Central Backpackers Oxford — Hotel in Oxford

It's in a really noisy room (two big night clubs just in front). The receptionist was nice and the facilities are more or less well maintained. The made up random rules when it was convinient for them. They have a small terrace and we were there one night without talking (we were with the headphones watching a movie in the tablet) and they told us (a bit rude) to leave immediately because that are was closed. There was nothing about that on the rules, on any signs or anywhere visible. No-one told anything before, yet it seems like we "magically" should had known. Later on I discovered that the staff room is facing that terrace. So it's okay for the guests to have plenty of noise in the room but using the terrace in a considerate way, without making any noise at 23h is forbidden.... I'm pretty sure the staff made up that rule to try to prevent any possible disturbance to their room, but that means less general space available for everybody (also I would understand if they call off somebody making noise but we were completely silent). Anyway, we slept horribly bad because of the club noise (Saturday and Sunday night). Not recommended unless you...

Pros: staff are nice, place feels secure and prices are pretty standard.

Cons: PLEASE make note that this hostel is located right next to multiple busy, trashy nightclubs that operate until 3am. The constant noise pollution makes it very, very hard to sleep as the noise rattles through the building and the windows are all left open. I should also mention that they charged me £8 to do my laundry, I waited over 24hrs and when I collected my clothes, they hadn't even touched a washing machine. Just a basket of dirty laundry. I was packing up to leave, so I didn't have a chance to ask them to do it again. I don't like writing negative reviews, but I feel like this is worth mentioning, especially if you're charging £8. So if you're having your laundry done there, just make sure they actually wash the clothes.

TLDR: decent little hostel that feels safe and secure, but the incessant noise pollution from nearby clubs means you won't get much sleep, and the services there seem to be unorganized. Prices aren't terrible though. (unless you're paying for laundry lol)

I love it! The location is only 4-5 mins walk to the train station (I came from London) and I could reach to the city center and tourist attractions in 10-15 mins by walk. Staffs were nice and friendly. I could drop my baggage here both before check in and check out time with no extra charge. Though it is a small hostel but I really like how they utilize the space. The room is not too narrow plus good smell and the bathrooms are separated from the toilets. They have the table outside the shower area for our stuffs...that's so good because I always had problem with many hostels that never provide even enough space on shelf to put my soap and shampoo. I was also glad they provide a strong hair dryer. The common area are cute and they have mini bar inside. I felt like I stay at home. Price is very cheap though exclude breakfast. They provide free towel and I felt so good that I didn't have to prepare bed by myself or waste time to make bed when I checked out. All area is clean. I do recommend this hostel. The location is close to Oxford Castle & Prison... only...
