Are you willing to offer the catweazle community a legitimate reason as to why you abruptly ended allowing the open mic to take place in your space? I know that personally catweazle was my only safe space and the only form of socialising that I have in my life and sadly the only reason you have offered for not allowing this space anymore is because an employee was unhappy with how they were asked to turn the air off. As someone who was there when this happened I do not think it in any way justifies an effective immediate kickout response, the comment was by no means rude with a maliciouse intent and this seems to be a very dramatic and unreasonable response to end a safe space for an entire community of people.
I find it very telling that rather than conversing with someone trying to ask you a fair question you firstly delete my comment from your social media and then you continue to block me. Considering you claim to be a space for community, you have stripped a space from a community of people who spread love, positivity, understanding, patience so on such forth for a personal reason. The immediate effect would suggest that you could not even tantalise the thought of having a conversation with the group about your concerns either. You lack the willingness to even extend your explanation and evidently are incapable of conducting yourselves in a professional manner.
Your opinion on what is right and wrong ended a space for hundreds of people. Me sharing that I think your decisions here are wrong and asking you a question has resulted in you blocking and quite literally trying to silence me. Clearly not the loving community people you claim and...
Read moreYes. Bang-on right for Oxford city's evolution into a wholesome place for once. Town and gown thing - this is where they morph into a new more acceptable amalgam. BIG welcoming workspace, great coffee dairy and non-dairies. Smoker-friendly out front. Music vinyl shop in the corner, bookshop downstairs. Young and old, white, black, asian, asia-pacific. Open 7 days a week, do great events days and evenings - regular live music, stand-up comedy, craft fairs, charity fundraisers. The rest, at 66, I'd just be repeating myself - ' “It’s in my interest to see [Common Ground] do well. I’ve lived in Jericho a long time, since 1983. First of all, its kind and friendly. Shared free Wi-Fi workspace that doesn’t chase you after you had your great coffee. Common Ground helps you feel grounded. Top marks. I torture locals and visitors alike with my wacky art and guitar playing.’ jAm, Jericho...
Read moreI went into the cafe last night to check out a gig that was advertised from 7:30-11:30pm. When I arrived, previous events did not require a ticket so I came in without one. The women at the door was very rude about me not knowing this, being sarcastic and making me feel as if I was putting her through a massive inconvenience when I had to buy one. I sat around and nothing was starting so I decided to leave and ask for a refund due to this. Again, this women first refused to give me a refund then gave me cash after I explained there was no clear signage stating the ticket was non-refundable. As I was leaving, she said in a sarcastic tone, “it was really great to have you here” then turned to her friend and said “not”. Not only did this make me feel very uncomfortable but also unwelcome in a place which I would often go to for work, attending classes as well as socialising. I left this comment on their instagram and it...
