Sand in the Sandwiches by Hugh Whitemore We went to watch the matinee of this play on Thursday 27th Oct. Edward Fox gave a brilliant one man performance, capturing John Betjeman's mannerisms so well and reciting so many of his familiar poems. However, we were very disappointed with the sound. When he was standing or facing the audience and reciting a poem directly, one could hear him but when he was just conversing, raising and lowering his voice, as one does in conversation, the sound was lost. The Venue itself is well laid out there was a stand for drinks n snacks then another which was the bar and merchandise, we were served nice and quick and headed in to the auditorium to find our seats. They were very comfortable. Read moreWe had the most enchanting time at the Oxford Playhouse watching "The Tortoise and the Hare" ballet with the little ones. The atmosphere was so welcoming for families, and the show kept everyone, young and old, thoroughly entertained.
The performance was just the right length to hold the kids' attention, and the performers were truly excellent. 🌟
Afterward, we enjoyed a delicious meal at the nearby Red Lion, where the staff and food were both top-notch.
If you're looking for a magical experience the whole family can enjoy, we highly recommend the Oxford Playhouse. It's a gem of a venue!...
