Karma Restaurant — Restaurant in Oxford

The restaurant itself is nice.....Good atmosphere and decent service, but the food is terrible.

Tasteless - very odd texture to the keema, almost like your eating a paste rather than minced lamb - old 'not quite fresh' taste to the chicken and not the right blend of spices used giving the dishes a very bland taste. Standard trickery of large chunks of onion, peppers and tomatoes in the dishes - this was of course used to bulk out each dish so they give you less meat. Although the service and atmosphere were OK, you pay for the food which was not up to scratch considering the ridiculous prices charged.

If you KNOW what curries are supposed to taste like, avoid like the plague - you will be disappointed.

Also....£15 for poppadoms and chutney???? - this is usually complimentary in most other restaurants and only mentioned this when we...

Not a very good experience unfortunately. We went to visit Oxford from London on the 31st of Dec, a group of 8. Table was booked well in advance having read the largely positive reviews. However 3 things left a bad taste in the mouth. Firstly, we ordered mango lassi and even after repeated requests to change our glasses, we were ignored. So effectively we were expected to reuse our lassi glasses for water. Not a good experience. Secondly inspite of ordering a lamb dish they delivered a chicken dish. No apologies were forthcoming. And thirdly, less said about the portion sizes the better. Very poor experience and left a bad taste in the mouth especially on a day when we wanted to have a good time. I for one will not going back when I visit Oxford which I do...

Doing takeout in lockdown and has some great vegan dishes and beers. 😋

Was about 15 minute wait and had a pleasant chat with the barman. He told of how, in normal times, the place was alive with a buzz and music and people. The canopy outside was filled with diners and smokers who sat peacefully as they watched the rain falling outside.

The take-out food was lovely - came with a lovely extra potato dish. My dish was vegan and "Hot" but was actually not bad, which was grand.

Suggestion would be a new menu outside (the existing one is misted beyond recognition).

Then I tried to leave... and they told me it was the Hotel California and I never could. Still there now, but don't think anyone will notice until the end of...
