Philly's Burger — Restaurant in Oxford

Saw a deliveroo offer on this so ordered 2 personal sized pizzas for dinner tonight. My Napoli friend told me once that if I were to judge any pizza at an Italian restaurant I needed to start with margherita. Did precisely that with another personal size of Quattro formaggi and wow! I mean for the price and quality ratio (on deliveroo,too!) this place has got to my top 1 in oxford (used to be Franco manca- NGL they are pretty good considering how cheap they are/used to be! ) The pizzas here had crusts chewy with a nice burnt, the toppings savoury and flavourful… the tomato sauce tangy with a hint of sweetness… you taste the basil on the margherita but I do think they use the same sauce for Quattro formaggi so equally flavourful (if you feel fancy perhaps top that with some crumbled candied pecans or drizzles of honey and toasted walnuts chefs kisses…) The deliveroo offer was 50% off but I’d most certainly visit at its full cost! The only thing is I don’t think they have indoor dining space - if you live/are staying nearby then I’d say it’s a good option! Mario’s is wayyyyy...

I’ve been a regular at your St. Clements Street branch since it opened and always loved the food and service. But I tried the new Cowley Road branch recently and was really disappointed.

I saw the same gloves being used to handle raw burger mince, then salad and appliances – that’s a serious hygiene issue. I also ordered a chicken burger and got something that looked like chewy chicken tenders in a bun. The fries were greasy and completely bland.

I’m sharing this because I’ve always been a fan of your brand and hope the Cowley Road branch can improve to match the great quality of the original location. I now have a stomach ache after eating that burger which motivated to...

After a long Voi ride home I decided to drop into Pizza Hero for a proper pizza. I ended up speaking with Mo for about 20 minutes on how he ferments his dough, as I enjoy cooking pizza at home and spent quite some time over C19 perfecting my recipe. He is incredibly knowledgeable, and his pizza reflects his passion for remarkable, quality, pizzas.

I can’t fault it. From the leopard spotting to the toppings, and the quality of the passata and mozzarella, this is absolute perfection.
