We went there for our wedding anniversary. Reserved a table beforehand and mentioned we would bring 2 dogs. We should have mentioned they aren't Chihuahuas but medium-sized like Labradors. When we came at 5.30 the restaurant was empty, only one table in the corner had some guests. We got offered a table right in the middle of the room where it was clear people would need to jump over the dogs all the time. On request we got a table on the side. We sat down and started to study the menu, looking forward to the evening. After a few minutes we got told we couldn't stay where we were as the dogs who sat behind me would block space for the table behind me (still empty at that time). We were asked to move to a very small table in the hallway leading towards the toilets. It was clear that the dogs would have been in the way there as well eventually when the place would have filled up. We would have needed to move them back and forth every time someone would have wanted to go to the toilet. Not our idea of a relaxing celebration dinner which is why we left. So obviously I cannot say anything about the food (that I have been very much looking forward to) but found the staff unfriendly, uncooperative and unwilling to consider alternative options. Got a take away curry that evening. Definitely not the vision I had for my wedding...
Read moreWe had the loveliest Long weekend away in Cornwall last week. We were told by a friend to try No4 in Perranporth which was just a short drive away from where we were staying. We went for Breakfast and for Evening food and both times we were pleasantly surprised!
I could have eaten my pancakes 3 times over, they were so light and fluffy and just all round delicious! The perfect amount of Strawberries and Clotted Cream 😍 Accompanied with an Iced Coffee with a Chocolate orange syrup... Talk about sugar overload! But I loved every minute of it! 😂 My boyfriend had the Eggs Benedict which he said were really nice but it was strange the muffin was not toasted. Not a complaint just a bit different! 🍳
For Evening Dinner we shared the Camembert to start and I had the 12 hour Pork Belly, which was incredible. The Pork just fell apart, the crackling was cooked to perfection and the Carrot and Swede Puree was just amazing🤤
The No4 Burger was a lot bigger than we expected and it was full of flavour, you also t a large portion of Triple cooked Chips on the side🍟🍔
We have since been back AGAIN and had the Roast Dinners. These were so delicious and the beef I had was just one of the best I have ever tasted.. Would highly recommend for any...
Read moreParty of 6 2 had pork belly 3 had fish and chips and 1 had lamb shank. Fish and chips OK, nothing special with a heavy batter ( not restaurant standard by any means ) Pork Belly OK , nothing special for the price and pork dry. The most disappointing was the lamb shank and fondant mash £25 , awful dried crispy ,Jerky texture shank that had been ruined by way over cooking ( you couldnt put a fork in the meat ).We very rarely complain , but this was unacceptable, we politely informed the young waitress, who apologised and took the dish away. She returned and said " would I like to select something else off the menu , the chef is concerned that if he cooks another Shank, we would still complain with how it is cooked "! ....like it was us being too fussy wanting a lamb shank cooked properly! Well , if the chef is concerned that he will make the same mistake twice and cannot cook a lamb shank to an edible standard - best to opt for a very standard fish and chips !! Maybe the " chef" is just a "fryer" and if that's the case I'd give this restaurant a miss and opt for the chippy across the road and save £50 !! I'd avoid this restaurant if you want something more than very mediocre at a high standard...
