Coffee Shark — Restaurant in Plymouth

Disappointing and poor customer service. We were made to wait over half an hour for five “on toast” meals and when mine arrived it was not what I had ordered. I complained and instead of just accepting this and making the correct order the owner came out of the kitchen and tried to suggest that what had been brought to the table is what had been ordered. Unfortunately, I lost my temper at that because I know what I ordered and there was also a comment from him that “we’ve been busy”. I felt this was untrue as I counted at least 5 staff working when we arrived and one more turned up during our visit. There was only one other table with three covers when we ordered our food. They got their’s, ate, and left before we even saw our food. If you can’t do simple “on toast” orders in 10 to 15 mins when it is not busy then you’re not organised enough. I can also only conclude that the counter staff made a mistake when the orders were placed. This could have been forgiven if the approach to my complaint had been different. Eventually my meal was taken away and had some Salmon plonked on it which was still not what I ordered in its entirety. By this time my poached egg yolks were hard. Can’t say I enjoyed eating it after this and we left a.s.a.p.

On the positive side the coffee we ordered was nice, so I’d suggest anyone visiting sticks to just coffee and cake. Don’t order food that needs preparation unless you want to wait...

A really lovely coffee shop with a really relaxed atmosphere. My experience with drinks is usually fine but I decided to order food with my partner today and was disappointed at having to wait half an hour for 2 toasties, although I can appreciate it was busy.

I was mostly annoyed with having balsamic vinegar drizzled all over my plate, which covered the bottom of my toastie and meant I had to leave the bottom piece of bread. I am not somebody who likes to cause a fuss, but I really wish all ingredients were clearly on the menu because I would have otherwise asked for this to not be included. At the very least, please just start putting it on the side salad only so people can avoid if they don’t like it 🥹 I’m not a hugely fussy person and I know so many people that also dislike balsamic so I feel like this would affect many people. I spent £20 on food that I didn’t enjoy but the long wait put me off getting it remade completely.

I’d happily go back for coffee and cake but a little put off ordering hot food incase of more surprises. It’s a shame because the toastie itself was great quality and...

I have been here a few times, living locally. The service at the counter was not Friendly or welcoming. The girl stood there blankly until I asked her for a coffee. There are no coffee menus just food ones. There are no prices on show for coffees. I ordered a simple easy food order but it took a long time. When i asked her about the food, she looked at me blankly and said 'do you want me to ask the kitchen?' I found this surprising and somewhat disappointing for staff in a cafe.
