The Mannamead — Restaurant in Plymouth

Despite the loud customers at the next table ( 6pm ish) this pub is always a lovely spot for food. I ate the manager's special sourdough burger which was 6oz. of perfectly cooked juicy pure beef and a decent salad in a bun for £2.99. I ordered a 99p side of coleslaw to perfect it. Absolutely top notch restaurant quality food. My friend always has the ham egg and chips but with peas instead of ham. So, egg chips and peas :-) . The bottomless all day coffee is great value and the staff are always very kind. Go on curry night with your partner if you have one; can't go wrong. They'll think you've pushed the boat out, if you can get a quiet corner or garden seat. There's even a little park nearby for a romantic stroll afterwards. It's a tiny park, so don't bank on burning any calories. Last time we ate here as a family my little boy said his stomach was going to explode, but apart from that he'd enjoyed it. But his children's fish 🐟 was the size of his forearm so that was probably why. It was perfectly battered and cooked fish. Fully recommended for any occasion, if you can get a table. Free limited parking nearby in Barracks carpark or there's a pay...

We just wanted a quick lunch and so went into the Mannamead. As it was a wetherspoons, I wasn't expecting much...but I did expect a complete dinner and to be respected when waiters were told the problem. The menu states 'All Sunday roasts are served with vegetables, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding'. Due to the fact there was no vegetables left we were served peas and sausages, however my friend received no sausages and myself and other friend received no Yorkshire pudding. The sausages were bought out and we then told the waiter we had no Yorkshire puddings. He looked at us blankly and carried on his job. Nothing was given to us so we felt we had been brushed aside. It also took well over 40 minutes for our plates to be cleared when there was only a handful of people in. On a separate occasion,my friend ordered a cheese and bacon chicken burger only to find she had been given a normal chicken burger. The issue with this was she was charged extra for something she didn't receive. Can't help but say disappointing dinner and service. Shan't...

Wed 23rd/7 7:30pm We were short on time and popped in for convenience before picking our son up nearby. We were served quickly, food was good - hit the spot, tasty and nice and hot. We were pleasantly greated by several members whilst we were there, who checked in with several times offering good service. The Manager stood out - Callum, what a cheerful guy! It's a breath of fresh air for someone to welcome you in such a way. He gave off an energy that he was happy to be there and enjoyed welcoming people. He was like it with other customers on tables near by. A special mention to Binny too, very friendly and helpful getting my husband some spicy sauce from the stock room downstairs for his burger and myself a takeaway coffee cup for my drink. This may seem simple but service where you are treated like a valued customer and staff actually smile whilst they are working is refreshing. Especially for a chain.... We have club for my son every week on Wednesday....this seems the perfect midweek treat....
