In short OK I guess, don't get me wrong the food was nice. We had a pizza and a steak both dishes cooked lovely, only four issues we had.

One; The tables were a kinda bare wood grain and had glitter over them. "How diffrent" the mrs exclaimed, but as I glanced over the other table tops it was clear our table and the 3 tables near by were the only ones with glitter. So in short they hadn't been cleaned properly from some kinda party, don't get me wrong this wasn't an odd bit it was alot. It gets you thinking if they don't clean the tables in your view I wonder what the back of house looks like.

Two; The front of house staff really need uniforms and a lesson in service. So we were talking and discussing the menu when the lady came over and although my partner was in the middle of a sentence, the waitress began to talk over her asking if we were ready to order and even when asking this she wasn't even making eye contact, and looking accross the room. She seemed rushed, and I'd kinda understand on a busy night but this was a Thursday; staff must have made up 25 percent of the people there. Also each waitress had a diffrent casual look, I wasn't sure if they were dining or working there I only guessed from the rocket speed some of them moved around. (The kitchen guys all looked very smart in nice clean black uniforms)

Three; A small thing but a biggy for some, dirty cutlery, steak knife on my table had what looked like dishwasher baked on mash potato. Worse thing was that it was face up so someone placed it there but not looking at what they were placing. (Wonder if it was our wondering waitress).

Four; Such a little niggle I'm not even gonna bother posting it.

In short guys and girls, nice food, price not to bad. The service will be the reason you won't return.

Sorry team I'm sure you...

Came here for a Valentine’s dinner and it was lovely. We were welcomed immediately and seated. Every table had rose petals and candles (except ours for some reason, we’re all human I suppose someone accidentally missed it!) and could tell great effort had been make to make the atmosphere romantic.

The starters we had calamari which was very much lacking in batter which meant it was extremely chewy. Some didn’t even seem battered. I was a bit disappointed but the ones that actually had batter were delicious!

For main I had the bolognese which was beautiful, and my partner had carbonara which he said he loved too.

We had the Valentine’s Day cocktail which was honestly one of the nicest cocktails I’ve ever had, it was so simple and sweet and the cotton candy was perfect!

The sticky toffee pudding was lush, and I don’t usually like tiramisu but my partner had it and I tried some and it was divine!

Would definitely come again, I think the calamari was just one of those things as could tell it would’ve tasted really good if it was all properly battered. All members of staff did so well we struggled to decide who to highlight on the QR code review we were asked to provide at the end. Two lovely ladies and a gentleman who were very attentive and constantly smiling, you can tell they love what they do and made the vibe so...

Wrong of me to assume that just because Wildwood is situated in Royal William Yard, that it would be incredible food and service.

Drinks - Don't bother ordering a French Martini, they use juice that makes the drink brown and acidic.

Food - Bolognese, more spaghetti than bolognese. Carbonara, better homemade or even a ready meal from the supermarket would be tastier, huge lack of flavour and presentation for the price. The only meal eaten was a child's sausage and chips so maybe wildwood need to perfect their italian dishes.

Service - We all pre-ordered, staff were unorganised, they didn't know what was going in, how many people does it take to serve one table? 4 apparently. I speak from experience. Poor staff management.

Atmosphere - I could here the conversation that the table behind us were having, clearer than anything else. There is alot of background noise, combined with the lights and the rash movement of staff, left a child put off their meal and in sensory overload.

It's a shame this is our findings from our first and last visit to Wildwood, i had high hopes however there was ONE member of staff with red curly hair who was very friendly and always happy to help so thank you that member of staff.

Worst french martini I ever tasted. 😖

But the brownie...

(24th Feb 2024) TLDR: Refused service based on race. Walked in on a Saturday evening, restaurant was mostly empty, maybe 4-5 tables occupied. Upon entering my 3 friends (2 South Asian and 1 Caribbean) and I (white) were told ‘no walk-ins’ despite us having made a reservation online (I was standing behind them). They explained we had a reservation, waitress checked her list and said it’s not here. We showed her the email and she said we couldn’t dine there. As soon as I heard that, I stepped forward and directly asked ‘why not?’ and she immediately began picking up the menus and took us to a table without providing an explanation. This all felt extremely racially motivated as my friends were not greeted upon arrival and we would’ve been denied entry if I hadn’t said anything. We were all visibly frustrated by the situation which the rest of the waiters realised and then proceed to give us what I’d normally describe as exceptional service. Disappointed by the whole experience and the food was average and my seafood linguine lacked flavour. I’m extremely disgusted and frustrated by the situation. I’m 100% sure if I hadn’t asked the ‘why not?’ we would’ve had to leave.

Wildwood Restaurant in Royal William Yard, Plymouth, is a delightful culinary haven that brilliantly marries spaciousness with a cozy ambiance. It’s perfect for both grand gatherings and quiet, romantic dinners. Amazing staff! Their friendliness, attention to detail, and willingness to go the extra mile make every visit memorable. But the true star of the show is the food, especially their steak pizza, which is arguably the best pizza ever! Each bite is a delightful experience, perfectly balancing the richness of the steak with the light, crispy texture of the pizza. Whether you’re in for a quick bite or a leisurely meal, Wildwood promises an experience that’s as pleasing to the palate as it is to the soul. In summary, Wildwood Restaurant is a must-visit gem in Plymouth, offering a perfect blend of ambiance, exceptional service, and culinary excellence, with their steak pizza being a standout favorite ♥️

Had a really fantastic steak meal and because it was Tuesday and they had 50% off AND they had two for one cocktails I managed to get cocktails for two people (4x long Island iced tea) and an Eton mess dessert after my main meal of sirloin steak which was done really nicely, the total was about £35.00 What a bargain for such good food! the sirloin steak was excellent and the sweet potato fries were really nicely done. Got totally drunk on the long Island iced teas too! Adding to my review after I got the baked sea bass and that was fantastic too I'm very pleased with the service here, it's very good and everyone smiles and engages in really nice conversation. What a great place to take someone to eat posh nosh for really good value Edit: they now do the Beyond vegan burger and it's prepared and presented so nicely, very impressed with the food and service here
