Scoops Gelato — Restaurant in Portsmouth

I went to Scoops Gelato in Portsmouth thinking I’d treat myself — big mistake. The place looked fine, but that’s where the positives end. My food came out freezing cold (and not in the “nice refreshing gelato” kind of way). It was like they stored it next to Antarctica and thought, “yeah, that’ll do.”

The service was slower than a melted milkshake and the staff looked like they’d rather be anywhere else. For what they charge, I expected something that didn’t taste like it had been made last week.

Save your money and go literally anywhere else — even an ice cube tray at home would’ve been a better experience

my food was raw completely raw and when i complained they said they would do anything about it and they said they cooked it in a microwave? WHO COOKS CREPES COOKIE DOUGH AND BROWNIES IN A MICROWAVE??? Absolutely fantastic. The two ladies that were working the morning shift were outstanding. Though not knowing of a routine for birthday visits, when I mentioned my Grandson was on such a visit they could not have been more accommodating. The place was busy but they ensured everyone was served with a smile and the orders arrived as requested and in a timely fashion. Then they arrived at our table with our 3 orders and an extra little something for Harrison plus a full rendition of Happy Birthday which everyone joined in with. Isabelle, the younger sibling, filmed her brother with glee as he blushed from nose to toe and thank you to the table full of young students who joined in so enthusiastically, a lovely gesture. I know for a fact that the staff in the other Portsmouth Scoops would have not made the occasion so memorable (see my review of those uptight, rude individuals in the Elm Grove branch). Unfortunately, I failed to take the names of the 2 wonderful staff in the Commercial Road branch but, may I say how wonton are, many thanks and yours is definitely the branch where the staff have everything right. Been to scoops a number of times, the first few times were fine, however the pstp two times have been abysmal, the first of the two times included finding multiple hairs in my waffles, when asked about kindly and friendly, the staff couldn't have cared less and openly mocked myself and my friend when we sat down again.

The second and most recent time was today, I'd ordered waffles for my friend and a sundae for myself, the waffles arrived perfectly fine, however mine didn't, after 20 minutes of the staff looking over at me I went up to the counter and all the staff were more interested in their phones than serving, once told, the staff member said she would make it right away and apologised, only to go straight back to her phone.

Once it had arrived, it was the completely wrong order, with coffee flavour ice cream instead of chocolate with solid ice crystals throughout, left it after two scoops and walked out.

For a company that tries to seem and advertise itself as appealing and friendly, it couldn't be more...
