Complaint Regarding Refusal to Accept £50 Note
My disappointment and frustration regarding a recent experience I had at Subway North Harbour on 24th April 2024, when I attempted to pay with a genuine £50 note, the manager refused to accept it, citing an issue with counterfeit notes.
The manager's refusal to accept my genuine £50 note was particularly frustrating as the note was fresh from the bank. I urged her to verify its authenticity, but she declined. Ironically, when I pointed out that a £20 note she accepted was fake, she conducted her checks and confirmed its authenticity. The inconsistency in handling different denominations is perplexing.
Additionally, when I inquired about the authenticity of the £5 note she gave me in change, I was met with name calling, she called me "Sarcastic". I find this behavior unprofessional and believe it indicates a need for further training in customer service at the very least. She could see a customer was frustrated and rather than descaling the situation as a good manager should do, instead provoked the customer.
I kindly request that you address these issues promptly. Furthermore, I would appreciate clarification as to why your store cannot accept a £50...

Service was shockingly bad, there was only myself and another customer in the store, the woman serving me was busy chatting away to someone else whilst she was taking my order and was touching everything with the same pair of gloves on. I was Ill after eating from here, understandable when your not compliant with hygiene standards. Another woman called Mary, face like thunder, bloody awful attitude, no customer service skills what’s so ever struts behind the counter talking over this other customer who is ordering, she was obscenely rude when the other customer asked for spiced cheese, rather than explaining that that promo had ended she started talking to this customer like he was something on the bottom of her shoe, Mary, maybe you should go and stand at the drinks machine filling your cup up for another 10 mins like you were when I walked in. Read moreReally unimpressed with the service today, the guy behind the counter refused to acknowledge myself and the queue of people waiting, we were stood there for a good 5 minutes whilst he very slowly made an Uber order, not once did he ask someone else to come help, he also didn’t say a word to us or any apology for the wait, it was rude and I’d expect at least an acknowledgment since I’m paying stupid money for a sandwich!! Finally someone else came to help, again, no apology for the wait, I felt very rushed, I was ordering for myself and my mum, not a huge order, but he certainly made it seem that way! Finally got our food, no napkins, and the food wasn’t up to standard, my mums sub literally fell apart in her hands, barely any chicken, wedges were cold even though they just got cooked!
