The Cedarwood coffee house is a small but refreshing coffee house found across from Pizza Express on Winckley Street. The place is fresh with white walls and graphic prints on the wall of cityscapes and the New York skyline, you definitely get a comfortable but modern vibe as you walk in. The shop is situated over two floors, with the baristas downstairs and the comfortable seating upstairs looking out onto the cobbles, and the cafe is also fully licensed to sell alcohol, with a bar nestled into the upstairs for anyone fancying a beer with their lunch.
As well as a great range of coffee available, there is also a nice variety of teas including the traditional English tea, or a more adventurous vanilla tea (which I have to say is amazing if you’re looking for a sweet tea with or without milk). The prices are good, with a large coffee costing around £2.50 or for slightly more you can purchase a meal deal which includes a panini (we had a pulled pork panini and a bacon and brie panini, however vegetarian options are available), a packet of crisps and a large hot drink. The coffee house also serves their own cakes (including gluten free chocolate cake!) and ‘Bond’s of Elswick’ ice cream for those that don’t have the time to drive out to fix their cravings.
Overall, I love the vibe of this coffee house, with the low prices for good coffee and a nice selection of teas that you don’t normally find when you’re out for a hot drink. The staff are attentive and I feel this place is an undiscovered diamond for the coffee drinkers of Preston. Hopefully we shall see this place becoming busier and busier as...

The food and coffee were good and the staff friendly, hence the rating. It was a reasonable menu, which mainly provides an good selection of tasty sandwiches and paninis. The service was really good and we were eating in short time of coming in.
Dog Friendly
I would like to stress that their 'Dog Friendly' status is very limited, with a '1 dog in the building (downstairs only) at any one time' policy which is a little restrictive, but understandable given the cafe size and layout. They were friendly towards dogs, but this comment is here to help make dog owners aware.
Layout
There are no tables and chairs downstairs, just stools. For a proper sit down you need to go upstairs (which you are not allowed to do with a dog).
Summary
Absolutely perfect for a quick stop for aomething nice but if you have dogs or a larger group this may not be the most ideal. But don't let that put you off popping in and...
Read moreThis may be my favourite coffee place in the world. The staff are so friendly and passionate about coffee that I always end up chatting with them. The baked goods are divine! I had the garden cake recently and it was like a civilised party in my mouth. And the coffee! Well it is always perfectly made and makes me want to be a coffee aficionado. The upstairs is so comfy and there is plenty of seating. I would highly recommend it becoming your regular...
