Honestly I've enjoyed coming to this little gem for a while now, I've seen it evolve and blossom over the past 4 years or so, it's become a safe haven on Wednesdays for the LGBT community and beyond with beautiful and friendly staff. Although some bad apples may come in to try and spoil the bunch the staff stand strong and try their best to make this a safe place for all. I love them for this. The food is comforting, its nothing extraordinaryly complex, its food you'd make yourself or ask your mum back in the day to make because honestly you felt like hell and just needed a food hug, toasties were certainly my comfort, now all we need is fish finger sandwiches and i might move in! Keep up the spectacular work.

I really enjoyed the atmosphere in the pub. There were a few disappointments, we waited for 45 minutes for our meal and we were the second order of the day and when it arrived we weren't given any cutlery to eat it with. However the barmaid was so pleasant and understanding she made the whole experience good. The food was absolutely delicious and exceptionally priced. It was lively and a content place to eat, I would recommend it especially the cheese and onion pie. The servings were plentiful.

I believe that next door to this tavern was once the Theatre Royal where the famous Bolton born Moses Holden Astronomer gave his first lecture in 1815. Signor Paganini violinist and composer from Italy played the same theatre in 1833. I have added an old photo, this looks like the same pub to me. Is it..? This photo and info is from Stephen Halliwell's book Moses Holden. No copyright infringement intended.

Excellent city centre pub located, as suggested by it's name, close to Preston's historic markets.

Great real ales as well as Erdinger as a permanent offering in addition to an excellent range of bottled beers including Belgian ales. Also lagers and ciders and wider range of spirits and some wines available.

Warm, inviting atmosphere especially on cold winter evenings and limited outside tables for enjoying cold beer during the summer watching the busy market activity during the day.

The only issue is opening times; some times the pub closes early and sometimes doesn't open at all during the week. We particularly like coming here on Christmas Eve but the pub shut by 9 pm on Christmas Eve 2014 which was disappointing.

I appreciate that staff need a holiday also but surely in the pub trade Christmas is a busy time and folk want to come out and enjoy a few festive beers.

Hopefully the opening times will be made clearer and even better just open till 23:00 every night and perhaps 01:00 on Fridays/Saturdays-I am sure the there will be a lot of custom if this was...

Well, this WAS a decent public house but due to a young, inexperienced, female Landlady...many,many previous visits by regular customers have fallen incredibly...perhaps the unprofessional Landlady is guilty of this lack of customers and after speaking personally with a few, this is definately the case.....what a shame that due to this, the turnover has dropped, obviously and being a friendly, understandably,Landlady would change the customers, the turnover and opinions of anyone aware of why this...
