Hungry Horse — Restaurant in Rawcliffe

Horrible experience both food and service. Food took 35-40 mins to arrive and had many black hairs in both mine and my friends. Whatever this happens picked it out. Friend looked under her chicken to find the bacon in her chicken and bacon sandwich, two tiny end bits the size of a finger nail. The “melted” cheese was freezing but we tried not to be them customers. I went up and asked if we could have some extra bacon and the guy tried to make me pay for it? Surely its included in the sandwich it wasn’t a chicken sandwich it was chicken and bacon. Trying to stay positive we apologised for being annoying. The food returned 5 seconds later with more bacon , the waitress simply slammed it on the table no apology whatsoever. Feeling awkward we tried to ask for a takeaway box to eat it elsewhere as the atmosphere was like being in highschool with staff annoyed they had to be there. What we believe was the manager barked “no” , no foil or bag or anything ? “No, use napkins” then walked off. To say we was so polite no idea why the staff think they are so entitled and rude. What a shocking visit. diet coke ordered which was either vanilla or cherry the barman tried to say it was not another customer brought his u and said exactly the same they then changed mine. when our 3 mains and 1 childs meal arrived i had ordered a mixed grill so i could have plenty without eating chips. When it came there was no steak and it was tiny i asked a waitress who went and asked and returned to say it was a mini mixed grill. The staff never told me there was 2. Then when we had finished we were waiting for the childs ice cream for over 20 minutes so i went to the bar and asked and ordered one for myself as we had been waiting and i ordered the same dessert another 15 minutes passed and when they came mine was in an upright sundae glass and small for £5.99 and the childs was in a huge bowl style dish for £1.99 i asked if they were the wrong way round and they said no. So calling in for a quick tea after a long drive on the way home tuned it 2 hours and 10 minutes never again. Useless staff except one waitress and...

With the times we are currently in unfortunately it was very quite when we went, which... Could be a good thing but just lost the atmosphere of going out for a meal

On ordering, the drinks arrived quickly and the food not far behind this could be due to how quite it was though

The food was "good" its just standard pub food unfortunately and can be found in all hungry horses... The salad garnishing could be improved but could of just wilted a little due to the piping hot food

The staff were incredibly freindly and very welcoming which is nice to see

Restrooms were very clean and tidy which is good for a hungry horse, some I have been to in the past haven't been... All that pleasant
