I am writing this as the later mentioned salesperson told us casually " my name is ** , if you would like to leave a review , by all means please do so" So I'm going to.
We Called in to Furniture Village in YORK on saturday 30 nov looking for a dining table set and was swooped upon by a lovely sales person, we already knew which item we wanted but let her do her thing telling us all about the table and chairs. There was a sign on almost every item on display saying “ 7 days delivery” we were told it would probably be more like 7-14 days if we were to go ahead today . Not a problem really for us as long as delivery was before Christmas so we went ahead and signed up and paid in full and we were rewarded with a “cleaning kit” and also some “free” gliders for underneath the table . The salesperson was very nice and knowledgeable about the items we were buying and told us the delivery company would email us this week with a choice of delivery dates. No sooner had we left the car park and we received a call from our aforementioned salesperson who was so sorry that she had forgotten to remove the “7 day delivery “ sign from our item and apologised because our item would not be available until the 29th december but offered to stop the sale if we wanted or we could have a different table if we preferred , err no we would like the table we had chosen thank you. I then asked if the 29th was a definite date for delivery but was told maybe not, thats just the day it would be in the warehouse so would “probably” be the day after but if another date becomes available they will work their “magic” to get our dining table and chairs to us as soon as possible. we later noticed the confirmation of order actually says 1 to 3 weeks. The only positive thing to come out of this was that the price was actually very good but so far that’s about all I can say up to now, So it’s fingers crossed we get our delivery in 2024 but I’m not holding my breath Since putting our review on another review site we received a half hearted "apology" saying they will look into the matter but we haven't heard anything since, apart from some "stalling tactics " saying they can only deal with the account holder which was my wife so my wife emailed them to authorise my email address for correspondence only for me to receive another email confirming that they have authorised it !!!!!
Also on the email is a fictitious tel number of 01525 289 599 When I started on online chat with "customer care" thet said they don't recognise that number 😡
What the hell does it take to get some sort of answer out of this bloody place. We now don't hold out any hope of getting our dining table and chairs before 2025 , certainly not before the 29 Dec anyway. You never know we might receive another "free cleaning kit" which my wife thinks has been doctored as the cloth inside has been strangely ripped in half !!
We can't possibly recommend this store to anyone wishing to buy furniture and certainly will not ever do so ourselves.
If it was possible to give less than 1 star I would have.
EDIT on 8 Dec 2024.
the reply below is the standard reply received for all negative reviews , I have replied to the email address several times but have not received anything from either Donna , Kush or Rebecca .
I will keep editing this...
Read moreWe went to furniture village in Clifton moor York, thinking about getting a new mattress. We were met by Lewis at the door who seemed very nice and well informed on the various mattresses - especially Harrison Spinks, which he showed us many pictures of his trip to the factory. We asked about any sleep trial with this brand and Lewis went away on his phone and came back to tell us that there was a 60 night sleep trial. We asked how would it work if we were to buy one? He said that we’d simply call up the shop, they’d take back the one we have and that we’d pay the difference for a higher up one of the same brand or take a credit for a lower model. When we heard this we decided to purchase a 10k spring Yorkshire HS mattress for about 2400 pounds.
When the mattress came, it was fine for about two nights. It then began to sag uncontrollably and we’ve both been waking up with bad neck and back pain since. It got to the point where we moved into our spare room to try and get some sleep. We’ve now moved our old mattress back onto our bed. Ridiculous.
I contacted Lewis, who asked me to go through product aftercare, which seemed evasive and strange but I did. I sent all required photos until it got to the point where they were enquiring about the “defect” and explaining the HS guarantee. This was totally different to the 60 night trial that closed the sale for Lewis. When I called up the store, the manager - Simon, was extremely defensive, persistently condescending and not willing to hear our side of what had happened. He refused to do anything for us and said that Lewis had told us about a guarantee on three other brands of mattress and that we must be confused. That is a total fabrication. We hadn’t even looked at that side of the showroom nor did he tell us anything about those mattresses. Lewis specifically pointed us towards HS and blatantly lied to us about a 60 night trial. Clearly he is learning from Simon, his manager, who is one of the most obnoxiously rude individuals I’ve ever come across.
Never will I shop at furniture village anywhere again. A shop that I thought had decent people working there from past experience. Don’t take their word on anything as they will not honour it and leave you with a useless mattress and the need to buy another. Absolutely appalling behaviour out of both of them.
Update: Re the response from Martin; I’ve already emailed that email address and you yourself Martin replied. FV love to just keep us running in circles while they take zero responsibility for their...
Read moreNot happy at all with Furniture Village. We had previously ordered our sofa from them and had no issues.
So we went back and bought a dining table and chairs set. I've had so many issues (and they continue).
1, When we first made the purchase, at the beginning of November, we were told that we would have it delivered in time for Christmas. As a result, we agreed to go ahead with the purchase and not wait for the January sales. The table did not arrive in time for Christmas and was eventually delivered on 14th February.
2, When we looked at the same table and chair combination during the January sales, it was much cheaper. So I sent an email of complaint directly to the store and all I received was a phone call confirming that the table will be delivered on the 14th February, with no acknowledgement of the email, the fact that it was delayed or we could have got it cheaper if we had waited.
3, We ordered 6 dining chairs but they only delivered 4. I've called Furntiture Village 3 times now and all I'm being told is that they're still waiting to hear back from the warehouse, to see if they've located them. It's been over a week since I called about the missing chairs and it looks like the warehouse is still trying to find them. Furniture Village were very quick in looking to take our money though as shortly after delivering our incomplete order, I received an email confirming when our first payment will be taken.
4, Good luck ever trying to call the store if you have an issue. Every time I phone the number, it continues to ring until it goes to a voicemail, which I don't think anyone manages. The last time I called and left a message I didn't hear anything back. The only person I seem to be able to speak to is the after sales team and unfortunately they aren't much help either.
After initially having a good experience with furniture village, we're very disappointed with the recent service and poor communication.
All we want is our...
