Monkey Lounge — Restaurant in Reading

Such a lovely place in an area which was crying out for a bar like this. The atmosphere was a really nice mix of relaxed and pub-like, yet with screens to watch sport, but still brilliant for groups of people looking for food or not interested in sport at all.

Johnny, Andrew and Tammy were lovely and always a friendly face when I come in. Anna and Amin were also extremely friendly and a fun conversation to come in to!

Monkey burger and chips was incredible. Pretty standard ingredients but every one was done superbly. Veggies fresh, patty just crispy and caramalised on the outside while dripping with moisture and flavour. Buns just nicely toasted. Just the right amount of sauce. Made me realise that pretty much every burger I have had up to now could have been so much better if only they had been cooked properly. It's not the ingredients, it's the way they are prepared. Professional, friendly, welcoming staff. Fantastic drinks selection, especially spirits and cocktails (the Strawberry Daiquiri is made with fresh strawberries and is incredible). Even has a great little outside area with TV and Sports on inside and out if you're interested. Favourite bar in Reading hands down and that's before I've even mentioned the food. The chef's here clearly are passionate about the menu and it shows; hand-made burgers, incredible pasta dishes, even chef specials (still need to try to lamb shank!).
