As someone who loves exploring cafes, it’s only right to write an honest review about my own family’s cafe, Monty’s. A small, family-owned gem, Monty’s offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Inside, there’s a cosy bar table perfect for studying or working, with free WiFi and no pressure to leave—even during busy hours. Montys cafe actually love it when people stay for hours because it means you’ve chosen them, and the cafe absolutely value that! The coffee here is unbeatable—and I say that as a coffee addict. It’s perfectly smooth, neither weak nor bitter. If you’re into matcha, this is the best I’ve ever had—vivid green, ceremonial grade, and packed with flavour. The food is prepared fresh to order, which means it may take a little time during peak hours, but it’s so worth the wait. Everything is homemade: the hummus, the baba ganoush, and the toum (Monty’s signature garlic mayo). For dessert, you’re in for a treat! The Biscoff brownie and NYC-style cookies are crowd favourites, but if you’re lucky enough to snag a Crookie, you’ll experience something divine. Every ingredient they use is either sourced locally or of the finest quality—free-range eggs from Beachwood farm, Belgian chocolate for the baked goods, and the smoothies are made with fresh frozen fruit, free from anything processed or artificial. As an employee here and a frequent visitor even on my days off, Monty’s feels like my second home. I often come here to study because it’s not just where I work—it’s genuinely where I love to be. That, to me, says it all.

🎉Lovely hidden gem for breakfast!! 🎉 Sadly we’re not from the area to have this again any time soon. Family run and I feel this is where the quality showed. My wife especially pointed out the detail in everything that was done for us 👍🏼 - Service was warming and polite - Food which included full breakfasts plus turkey bacon/mushrooms and fresh OJ could not be faulted 🙏🏼 - properly cooked fried eggs (no goop/uncooked whites) 💪🏼❤️ - Coffees to go plus a side biscuit We talked about how good this was for a while after while we drove home 👏🏼 Thank you for your kindness and lovely food. Hopefully we can stop by sometime again. Picture to show the plates did not leave anything left to finish 😇 Price was great for everything we got (I would have paid more knowing it was as tasty as we had) and we came away very happy.

Visited here with my family for breakfast , firstly the waiter was extremely friendly, we sat down and he put the fire on outside which helped with the cold. We ordered at the toll and all the food came out in a promptly manner , and even though it was quick it did not lack in flavour or attention to details. The full English breakfast was fresh and warm, plenty of beans and I always like to see sourdough bread served with the breakfast. The cheese toastie was one of the cheesiest I’ve seen served. Matcha latte is always a hit and miss but this one was spot on, full of flavour and lovely.. genuinely impressed with the quality, the service and the warmness of this family run place.. definitely not my last time here ! Thanks guys for making us feel at home

I loved my first visit to Monty's after many recommendations from friends!

When we arrived, staff were upfront and polite regarding the rough waiting time for food as everything is cooked fresh to order. As members of my party were late, the restaurant got busier and by the time we ordered the food wait time had increased - the staff were clear about this and apologetic. I asked if there were any small side items that may be ordered in the mean time that would be quicker, and they recommended the hash browns side which was ready in ten minutes.

I ordered the falafel wrap with added halloumi and it was delicious - fresh and filling. My family had a variety and dishes and all loved it. The eggs were perfectly cooked.

The range of drinks is fantastic, and they are very diligent about dietary requirements with alternative milks - I ordered the iced white mocha with oat milk, and staff were careful to check that I was aware the white mocha sauce has dairy in it. When the white mocha sauce began to solidify (on reflection, I think I took too long to drink it!) the staff made me a fresh one and reassured me that it was not an issue with the milk etc.

Overall, 4 people with main meal and drinks plus two sides came to just under £60 - very good price!

The only downside was that a very loud student group sat behind us part way through our meal, shouting and being very loud in a small space - but this is to be expected in a student area and it is not the fault of the restaurant! When they all began flapping and shouting about a single wasp, the staff responded quickly bringing out a citronella candle and offered to remove the wasp that was trapped in a glass.

Overall, a very pleasant meal and great customer service. I am looking forward to visiting again as soon...

Went there on a whim while walking home and were surprised by the quality hand-cooked food and really lovely staff.

I have a gluten allergy and after looking at the menu I was happy to see a reasonable amount of options I could pick from, I went with a jacket potato, but other options like the honey BBQ chicken platter sounded great too.

My partner went with the turkey bacon melted cheese sandwich (She doesn't have a gluten allergy) and our food was delivered in good time, with good portion sizes for the money too.

Overall we left really satisfied with the meal we had, a̶n̶d̶ ̶m̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶o̶̶̶n̶̶̶l̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶u̶̶̶g̶̶̶g̶̶̶e̶̶̶s̶̶̶t̶̶̶i̶̶̶o̶̶̶n̶̶̶ ̶̶̶w̶̶̶o̶̶̶u̶̶̶l̶̶̶d̶̶̶ ̶̶̶b̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶f̶̶̶i̶̶̶n̶̶̶d̶̶̶i̶̶̶n̶̶̶g̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶o̶̶̶m̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶w̶̶̶a̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶t̶̶̶o̶̶̶ ̶̶̶m̶̶̶a̶̶̶k̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶ ̶̶̶g̶̶̶l̶̶̶u̶̶̶t̶̶̶e̶̶̶n̶̶̶ ̶̶̶f̶̶̶r̶̶̶e̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶v̶̶̶e̶̶̶r̶̶̶s̶̶̶i̶̶̶o̶̶̶n̶̶̶ ̶̶̶o̶̶̶f̶̶̶ ̶̶̶y̶̶̶o̶̶̶u̶̶̶r̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶a̶̶̶n̶̶̶d̶̶̶w̶̶̶i̶̶̶c̶̶̶h̶̶̶e̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶t̶̶̶h̶̶̶e̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶l̶̶̶o̶̶̶o̶̶̶k̶̶̶ ̶̶̶r̶̶̶e̶̶̶a̶̶̶l̶̶̶l̶̶̶y̶̶̶ ̶̶̶g̶̶̶o̶̶̶o̶̶̶d̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶n̶̶̶d̶̶̶ ̶̶̶e̶̶̶v̶̶̶e̶̶̶n̶̶̶ ̶̶̶s̶̶̶t̶̶̶o̶̶̶r̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶b̶̶̶o̶̶̶u̶̶̶g̶̶̶h̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶b̶̶̶r̶̶̶e̶̶̶a̶̶̶d̶̶̶ ̶̶̶i̶̶̶s̶̶̶ ̶̶̶g̶̶̶o̶̶̶o̶̶̶d̶̶̶ ̶̶̶i̶̶̶f̶̶̶ ̶̶̶y̶̶̶o̶̶̶u̶̶̶ ̶̶̶g̶̶̶i̶̶̶v̶̶̶e̶̶̶ ̶̶̶i̶̶̶t̶̶̶ ̶̶̶a̶̶̶ ̶̶̶g̶̶̶o̶̶̶o̶̶̶d̶̶̶ ̶̶̶t̶̶̶o̶̶̶a̶̶̶s̶̶̶t̶̶̶.̶̶̶

Thank you guys for the reply! I would like to retract the last part of my review there and say that not only do I fully recommend this cafe for gluten free and non gluten free eaters, but also that I am looking forward to trying one of their sandwiches or wraps in gluten free form on...
