Went here for a meal with my father.
Good beer reasonable food.
More to the point: No test and trace enforced People walk in and out of the street. Some just to use the toilet. Nobody seems to wear a mask apart from the staff, yet staff seem to hug and shake the punters hands.
Everyone seems to know everyone, beers lighters and seats seem to be exchanged constantly. Rule of 6 (wich is still in place in england) is ignored inside and outside.
Weed being smoked seems to be the norm outside.
2 tables are enjoying tons of orange jus. Obviousy their bottle of tesco vodka makes it much better.
No table cleaning, social distancing or any of the covid rules are being followed
Good place for a cheap beer not bad food 2nd hand drugsmoke and to catch covid.
No more tables outside? No problem, 3 to 4 cars seem to enjoy their beer just as well in their cars on the pubs car park
Just to make this even better, One of the servers is going round with plastic pintglasses. Taking my pint glass with her hands of the table and pouring into a plastic one. Does the same with my fathers and then straight to the next table to do theirs, can this get even worse?
As I am typing this I am looking at 5 tables. 3 with 8. 1 with 11 and 1 with 9. Well done

Read moreEnded up here as random choice. We had been before but many years ago. As the weather was nice we decided to sit outside so hubby went in to grab the menu. I chose hand battered fish and chips, hubby had lasagna and the kids had fish fingers.
First problem was the lady behind the counter my husband said was really rude. The children's menu was meant to come with main, desert and drink but were told they don't stock children's drinks.
So hubby went to tesco and bought something for our kids. The owner (who just recently took over the place) came outside and we thought he was going to moan but instead he wanted to reimburse us for it as he explained they were still having "teething problems"
Food: my fish was just a little too crispy for me but it was tasty and the tarter sauce a bit lemony which is odd as i like lemons!
The lasagne was nice but hubby said too tomatoey! The kids fish fingers were a big hit.
Once they have sorted themselves and the menu out we will visit again.
The new owner seemed like a nice guy and we wish him the...
Read moreGood, traditional pub food, reasonably priced. This is a traditional, unpretentious kind of pub, which is refreshing, as many pubs in the Reading and Thames Valley areas are moving to provide over-priced, pseudo gourmet food. They have a sensible range of beers, again not pretending to be anything other than a traditional pub. The staff are friendly and the overall atmosphere is relaxed. Kids are welcome and the free WiFi is among the fastest I've used in Reading. The toilets are in need of some renovations, but hey, this IS a traditional pub! I won't knock off any stars for the toilets. A well-deserved...
