Yo Momoz — Restaurant in Reading

I visited this establishment to place a take away order (Order Number 227443) at 18:57, costing £43.35. At the time of me placing my order there were no eat-in customers present and no other take away customers, the restaurant was dead quiet. I was served by a young lady who took my order and stated that it would be ready in 30-35 minutes. When I returned 45 minutes later, she smerked at me, making me realise that my order was not ready and I had presumed that she had forgotten about my order.

There were now other customers present, both eat in and take away customers and she asked me to take a seat. I again made a presumption and that was, that she was just going to bag my order up. Whilst sat there waiting, I could see that other customers were entering the venue and receiving their food orders before me. As you can imagine this started to become very annoying as it was now 1 hour since I first placed my order.

When it got to 20:05pm, which was now 1 hour 7 minutes after placing my order, I want to the counter and asked for my money back as I just did not want to wait any longer, the lady declined to give me my money back, telling me that the order was now ready, she just needed to go and bag it up and bring it out to me. I asked to see the manager, she told me that he wasn’t in. I asked when he was in, she told me that it was her brother, (named Brajay) and she didn’t know.when he was back in. I asked her to telephone him so that I could speak to him, she declined and told me that I can’t speak to him. I was so shocked and angry by her response, there simply was no complaints procedure in place.

I then asked her what I could do to complain, she stated that she didn’t know, so I asked her whether they were on Google so that I could leave a review, she stated that she didn’t know whether the restaurant was on Google, so I took time to find it whilst I was at the counter.

I showed her that the restaurant was on Google and she just smiled at me. I advised her that I was going to leave a review and she just stated “ok”, like she wasn’t bothered, so I returned home and wrote this review.

Overall, I am not happy that I had to wait 1 hour 13 minutes for my food and then by the time I got it home, which was a 5 minute walk away, the food was cold. The fact that there is no complaint procedure in place to be able to make a complaint there an d then and then when I asked for my money back, which was paid in cash, she declined my request. I asked to speak to the manager and was told I couldn’t speak to him.

The customer service in this establishment is absolutely appalling. As I live local, I am going to keep visiting this place to see if I can speak to the manager there as I am not happy with what happened this evening and there was no compensation offered for my time and for the poor service that I received.

We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Yo Momoz on Wokingham Road. From the moment we arrived, the ambiance was welcoming, and the service was top-notch.

We ordered a variety of dishes, and each one exceeded our expectations. The Hot and Sour Soup was perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice, while the Wonton Prawn Soup was rich and flavorful with tender, juicy prawns. The Chicken Combo—featuring Chowmein and their signature Dumplings (Momos)—was an absolute delight, with perfectly cooked noodles and dumplings bursting with flavor.

The Chicken Manchurian was another standout, offering the perfect blend of savory and tangy flavors, and the Chicken Fried Rice was cooked to perfection, light yet flavorful. Every dish was fresh, well-seasoned, and beautifully presented.

What truly elevated our experience was the impeccable service. We were served by Kanchan, whose warm hospitality and attention to detail made us feel right at home. She ensured everything was to our liking and added a personal touch that made our visit even more memorable.

Overall, Yo Momoz offers not just incredible food but also a dining experience that leaves you wanting to return. Highly recommended for anyone looking for authentic flavors and outstanding service...

Absolutely delicious food and reasonably priced. Exceptional and friendly service from all staff there. Family- friendly restaurant . Will definitely return again soon! EDIT: i returned a few weeks later on a busier evening…. although the food quality was just as good, the service was not- we had to wait nearly 2 hours for all our food to come out and had been fasting all day. Even when the food came out, it came out one by one in a random order (and then had to wait 20 -30 mins for the next item), so we were all sat there eating from one main as we were so hungry. The waitress did not apologise and when we told her how long we had been waiting, she said it’s because they cook the food fresh as if that was a justification for waiting nearly 2 hours. In the end we had to leave, but were still waiting for one main dish but by then the kids were extremely unsettled . Again, no apology.
