Just been into Chai and it was not far short of chaos and it wasn’t even their busiest time. There were lots of staff and nobody seemed to know what they were doing. After a few minutes wait, a table was pointed out to us and we were told to sit down and promised a menu which didn’t materialise. Five minutes later we were asked for our order but said we hadn't been given a menu yet. About 7-8 minutes later a waitress asked if we were ok so we went to place the order and were then told that we had to go to the counter to order it. Why when there are so many staff do you have to order at the desk? And to make it worse you pay at the same ordering point which causes a bottleneck. We didn’t order any food in the end we just had a coffee which when served was spilt all over the cup handle and into the saucer. For a venue that has obviously spent a lot of time and money on its decor, this becomes invisible because of the poor service. We will not be returning...

I visited here with a friend as she recommended it- hence out of politeness I didn’t complain but even she was considering removing the service charge- service was incredibly slow and despite there being around 8 staff members, they ignored us repeatedly. After waiting 35 minutes- we approached the counter for someone to place our order. We were told food would take 25-30 mins, and it did. Our food arrived at different times. My chicken Caesar salad was incredibly bland and tasteless, no seasoning on the chicken, for £13 I seriously regretted my choice. My ‘dirty chai latte’ tasted like pond water, I only drank it because I was so thirsty as we had waited so long for service! I was so disappointed as the appearance of the cafe promised so much, however it has a serious case of style over substance. I really want to support independent businesses but they really need to improve every aspect of their service and I won’t be recommending...

My friend has just moved to Banstead and been using the normal coffee houses of Costa and Cafe Nerro, which are nice in Banstead , but today when i visited we fancied a change and liked the look of this place and went in. It's a very nice independent Coffee House and we were greeted by a warm welcome by the staff and Owner. We only drank Coffee but the Food looked really nice. The Coffee was v good (that i can vouch for) . Prices were reasonable. My friend liked it so much that he stated "this will be his new haunt". If you want a friiendly environment and a coffee house away from the normal chains and nice friendly staff this is it. Situated opposite Waitrose you can treat yourself here before or after your shopping .The Coffee as i said was very nice (i had Cappuccino and...

Drove all the way from Epsom to be informed by the server that the time for opening is different to what advertised inside their shop. Refused to serve. Lost a customer to Cafe Nero ! Replying to your comment Cathy: I was there on Friday, 19th March, 2021 @ 07:31 as the google maps and your sign posted inside your shop suggested which I added here as the reference . I did not ask the name of the lady, however being a seasoned local guide, I did send google maps suggestion to change the opening hours and I think you must be notified regarding the same. I see that the google maps have changed the opening hours. However I felt if I was there at the shop and you were displaying the time shown in photo, you should be courteous to respect the customer and serve them.

Chai is a lovely, stylish venue and the cakes are very, very good! However, the coffee is a bit hit & miss. I have popped in on occasion for a cortado to take-away. Sometimes it comes in a small cup which is what I expect with a cortado and is the norm. Other times, it’s in a big cup making it more of a latte. Sadly this afternoon, I got home with my cortado (in big cup) and had to pour it away! I took one sip and it was basically milk & water. It was just awful! On pouring it away you can see just how watery it was. Hardly any coffee in it. Please do not have specialty coffees on your menu if you cannot consistently deliver. Chai is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.

What a lovely lunch we've just had!! My partner and myself have just eaten here, sitting outside in the sun watching the world.go by! The seating inside is also lovely and really nice atmosphere but the sun is out so here we are. I had the poached eggs and bacon on toasted brown bloomer which was cooked to perfection and so tasty. My partner had the Chai Tuna on Sourdough bread, tuna mixed with spring onion, garlic and mayo, also which had melted cheese wild rocket, seeds and chilli flakes!! She said its one of the nicest things she has ever eaten. We will be back next week for more and if you are in Banstead and wanting food any time you must go in and treat yourself, top eating experience👍🏻👍🏻
