I was very disappointed at the service we received on Wednesday night 27 May at the Rayleigh restaurant. We booked a seat for 7pm for 2 people, on arrival and seated we were advised there was a 15 minute wait for food. We decided to order a starter as well as a main in view of this to keep us going. We ordered food and drinks at 7.10, the drinks were delivered immediately but our starters did not arrive until 7.30. We sat patiently until 8.20 waiting for our main courses and politely asked the waitress if our food was nearly ready as we had been waiting such a long time, she replied that ours was in the oven (pizzas). My husband has ordered an Americano but specifically asked for no cheese. At 8.30 I saw our waitress who looked like she was preparing to bring our meals over to us from the counter. At that point another colleague who was stood with her spread what I presume was Parmesan cheese all over the pizza. It was then our poor waitress that had to deliver the message that the pizza was going to have to be remade. After waiting for over an hour for our food we weren't prepared to wait any longer. The manager came over to apologise but by now it was too late, we had decided to leave, she offered us a free pizza but we had had our evening spoiled by then. Read moreReally poor service from Pizza Express this evening. Ordered a pizza & salad both with chicken on via Uber Eats. Took an hour & 10 mins to be delivered although I don’t think that was the fault of Uber & then guess what …… no chicken on the pizza or in the salad. Pizza was very stuck to the box too & had a whole in it. Tried telephoning Rayleigh Pizza Express immediately to get it resolved but no one answered the phone so I left a message. In total I called them 7 times & left two messages - not once did anyone answer & no one called back either. Finally took the food back myself 2.5 hrs after it was delivered to be met with really unhelpful ‘manager’. The girl waitresses were lovely but they admitted that they could hear the phone ringing & no one had answered. They also said they had been looking for the manager for half an hour. Anyway to cut a long story short they refused to give me a refund even though it was their fault the order was wrong. They couldn’t answer why no one had answered the phone & they didn’t know why someone couldn’t put chicken in a chicken salad or on a chicken pizza. We’re now left to try & get a refund from Uber Eats even though they say to contact the restaurant & it’s actually not their fault. For those of you that like pizza and like dining out please if your looking for 10% off your bill even if you spend £400 they will give you 20% off this equals to £80 not £40 lol joke this is Hannah giving practically everything away this is located at pizza express in Rayleigh they have no idea in what they are doing the manager was Hannah they prioritise customers but have seen customers wait the same amount of time to get served drinks the staff are rude and have no customer service skills I would put that down to poor management apparently we hit customer’s with our bags and stand right in the way I for one have never hit a customer with my bag and always seen if a customer is coming towards the door I’ll open it for them this would be Hannah as she is very rude and always comments on how we are dressed and always on the phone she forgets we are self employed and it’s also none of her business what we do on the phone as long as we are respectful to staff and others around us Hannah does not like delivery drivers she must remember it brings in more revenue than walk in or pre booked...
