After booking a table for 11 on a Saturday night on the Monday before, being told that I need to pay £110 deposit and agreeing to come into the restaurant to pay this on the next day I was available, which was the Thursday, I was harrassed everyday by phone by the waiters asking me for the deposit, even though we'd agreed it would happen on Thursday. In the end I felt under so much pressure, I gave the restaurant my card details over the phone to pay the deposit early so that the phone calls would stop. However, they still phoned me on the Friday and the Saturday to check and confirm my booking - as if I'm not coming after spending £110 on the deposit! We attended the meal for a joint birthday party for myself and my fiancé and we're hoping for a really special evening with friends. I'm sad to say that Bogaz did not make sure this was the case. The attitude of the waiting staff was so appalling that three members of our party stayed behind at the end of the meal to complain. The waiters forgot to bring drinks over for several members of our party, and did not bring a starter over that my friend had ordered. When my friend very politely enquired as to where his starter was, the waiter said 'I called out the name of this dish and no one answered - it's your fault you don't have a starter.' before investigating and finding out the two people had ordered a dish and he'd only requested one from the kitchen. At this point he grudgingly offered to get him another one. The main course was just OK, we had been expecting a lot more in terms of portion sizes and quality of the food. Some of the dishes came without the rice they were advertised as coming with, and we were charged extra for these when they were requested. At Bogaz there are two 2 hour sittings - one at 6.30 and one at 8.45, and we knew we had to leave by 8.30. We had just finished our mains at 8.20 and the waiters came over and told us that time was getting on, but we still had time for desserts. We felt pressured to leave so we just asked for the bill and he told us again no its fine you have time. We insisted he bring the bill and he literally threw it down on the table in front of me. Not impressed. The put a 10% service charge on the bill which was not optional- after the service they provided we certainly would have thought twice about paying 10%! We divided the bill and each paid separately. The waiter took our money to make sure the bill was all settled and we were just waiting for that, about to leave when we asked our waiter to take a quick photo of our group. My friend had the camera held out, it would have taken two seconds to take a quick snap of us. However the waiter was incredibly rude, refused to take a picture, and said 'You need to leave. Other people need this table!'. We were shocked, and told him that we were waiting on the bill being settled anyway and that we only wanted a photo as a memento of our night and he once again literally threw menus down on the table and stormed off. One of our party ended up taking the picture, which meant that she couldn't be in it, and most of the party left, except my fiancé and I and one of our friends, who asked to see the manager. When we explained to him that we were very unhappy with the service we'd received he didn't care, and said that it was our fault because we'd stayed too long and they need the table back. Funny how it would have been okay for us to stay longer if we were having dessert at 8.20 - they might have been able to squeeze another £50 out of us! We would have been so much better off going to one of the other restaurants in Rayleigh!...

After being treated like walking wallets I am not impressed at all with the events of the night of 22nd October. We were sat down opposite the open air kitchen yet somehow we were brought consistently the wrong things or not enough side dishes. Fair enough, we were a big party of 11. WHAT IS NOT OK is then being jumped on by the waiting staff for having the audacity to ask for the food we were paying a LOT for.
The final straw for me being when we had the cheek to ask for a photo just as we were about to leave only to be told that we did not have time and should just have thought about it earlier. Really?! 1 minute ago you were begging us to order a round of dessert or top up our wine! How is 5 seconds going to affect anything OTHER than saving us from this disaster of a meal service.
Not only were we charged a non negotiable service charge (haha!) We were over charged by £10.

We sat down and ordered our drink and a few minutes later we were asked for our order, we hadnt even had time to look at the menu.
We were brought a small selection of tasters with pitta bread. The bread was very dough like and not cooked properly. We were still eating our snacky bits when the plate was rudely taken away by an elderly gentleman without even asking if we were finished..i was in fact still eating with food on my plate..i said im not finished..he said it doesnt matter your main course is coming now.
The main course was quite nice however
We decided to have an eaton mess for a sweet but because they are usually so big we ordered 1 between us...when it arrived it was barely enough for 1 person however. The cream was squirted from a can so not fresh..the cheesecake was tiny and tasted absolute rubbish..i said to the eldetly man that it wzs very small and he just shrugged his shoulders and grinned..
So clearly not a good experience. I wouldnt go back abd would never...
