DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES!
came here and I asked my freind to order me a gluten free peroni whilst I used the bathroom. The bar staff gave my freind a non-gluten free peroni whilst saying she did not know if it’s gluten free or not. This is completely inappropriate and no one should be handing over something if they’ve been informed of an allergy and they do not know if the product they are selling is free from that allergen.
The owner of the establishment overheard me and my freind talking about the issue after I had already taken a sip from the bear and realised it didn’t taste right. He said they don’t sell gluten free beer, I said his staff should know that, and they should know that it is a very serious allergy. He said he will give me my money back if I took my beer inside.
I waited patiently to speak to the bar staff. She asked me if it was gluten free. I said no and that she should know that. She gets angry at me and says it isn’t her problem. I try to explain if it was gluten free it would be clearly stated on it and that it IS in fact her responsibility to know that. I get an earful while waiting for my money back and am asked to leave. I don’t get an apology from the bar maid.
Incredibly rude staff, NO customer service skills whatsoever. Won’t take accountability for a very serious mistake.
I was asked to leave because of being rightfully annoyed at their dangerous mistake to my health and also for them getting angry at me they got it wrong.
I have never had such an issue with having my allergies accommodated before or been spoken to so rudely.
This establishment shouldn’t...
Read moreMy wife, daughter and I went to have a drink here today, we have been coming to Rye for years but never this pub. We walked into the garden area to sit down, we were finishing off some ice creams, (my wife had 2 bites of cake left)at the time and a man,(possibly the owner) with 2/3 dogs came from a building at the bottom of the Carpark/ garden and started shouting “NO THANK YOU”towards us! Not sure if he was talking to us or not we all looked at each other and he then shouted it again. My wife said are you taking to us or something similar, and he then said we could not stay as we were eating our own food! My wife, who has a small piece of cake left said to him even a bit of cake and he replied she was being rude? We said we were going to finish them and order a drink but he said we was not allowed. I said fine we’ll walk back out to the road and come back in again, it would have taken Less than a minute for all of us to finish the ice cream and cake, but he wanted us to leave. Saying there were signs everywhere. He was very rude and didn’t even listen to our explanation. He did this in front of other customers who were sat in the garden area too, if this is how he wants to treat his customers, (if he is the owner) then maybe he should get some signs up saying a please and thank you cost you nothing extra.! We did not stay and went elsewhere and will not be...
Read moreVisited with friends with allergies. Unfortunately the menu was not accurate and we were served food we were told was safe when it was not (one of our friends is celiac and we double checked the food was gluten free which the menu stated was so and the staff confirmed) . When we double checked we were told it was an error but the staff were defensive. When I explained one of our other friends has a fatal nut allergy and we wanted assurance she was safe, the land lady asked "has she got her epipen though?" I was too shocked to respond properly. Staff then came out to our table and gave us a ten pound note asking us not to leave a bad review. The mind boggles. My friend went to the toilet before leaving and on the way to the bathroom she overhead the landlords and staff slagging us all off. As if we were terrible customers for asking them to not kill us. Overall an awful experience and we couldn't tell whether the landlords and staff truly didn't care or if they were too stupid to realise how dangerous and illegal it is to mislabel and serve food that's could harm if not...
