Brian and Jill, our hosts were about the most welcoming pair we have met at a B&B. Totally charming and so engaging, nothing was too much trouble for them. They have over 20 years experience in the hospitality industry and it really shows. |Our room was delightful with a comfy bed and wonderful pillows with first class amenities in the shower room and our bedroom.||We spent a fabulous day walking around Rye which is a short 5 minute walk from their B&B, there are plenty of cafes and coffee shops in Rye and a splendid choice of restaurants to choose from.||After a sound night's sleep we experienced probably the best breakfast at a B&B in all our years of travel.|A superb choice of breakfasts were on the menu with all fresh and local ingredients.|We elected for the Eggs Benedict on sourdough toast, the bread which had been hand made by Brian earlier.||We were so impressed we have shared our trip with friends who will be visiting this charming and well run B&B by a wonderful couple, as for us, we have decided to go back...

We were arriving early in the day and Gill was kind enough to provide a parking space so that we didn't have to seek alternative parking in town before checking in. Just a short walk from Rye train and Bus stations yet somehow with a rural feel, "Rye Red Cottage" is the perfect accommodation for a stay in the town. Our ensuite bedroom was clean, bright and airy with a number of personal touches that lifted it above and beyond an ordinary run of the mill B&B such as a small fridge with fresh milk and a wide array of teas and coffees. The breakfast was well cooked and plentiful in a cosy farmhouse dining room with views out to the garden. Read moreMy wife and I enjoyed a most enjoyable stay with our excellent hosts, Gill and Brian, at Red Cottage, our base for visiting Gusbourne Vinyard and Batte Abbey. Located in a quiet road, a few minutes walk from the centre of Rye, our very comfortable room (Tilley) was spotlessly clean, with TV, air conditioner and a small fridge, complete with fresh milk and welcome drinks. A very nice touch! The ensuite bathroom had a powerful, electric shower and came stocked with locally produced products, which can be purchased in the centre of town. Breakfast was outstanding with a great choice of items and generous portions, all cooked to order. We had the sourdough toast with avocado and smoked salmon.
