What was meant to be a joyous celebration for a dear friend quickly descended into an exercise in patience and disappointment.
Our party arrived with high hopes, only to be assaulted by the cacophony of a live singer whose volume could only be described as ear-splitting. Despite not being informed about live music when booking (a crucial detail they conveniently omitted), we might have adjusted our expectations had the management shown any flexibility. Instead, our multiple requests to lower the volume were met with the robotic response that "the manager said no." Heaven forbid paying customers be able to engage in actual conversation at a social venue!
The service was nothing short of abysmal. Watching my friend order the same drink four separate times before it finally materialized was both comical and infuriating. One wonders if the staff were communicating via smoke signals rather than a modern point-of-sale system.
As for the food? "Subpar" would be charitable. The tapas offerings were forgettable at best. We'd specifically chosen this establishment for their advertised £40 bottomless brunch, which proved to be the cruelest joke of all. The "bottomless" aspect is meaningless when server sightings are rarer than solar eclipses.
Save yourself the literal headache and celebrate elsewhere! Unless, of course, you enjoy shouting yourself hoarse over deafening music while waiting an eternity for mediocre food and the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent for a bottomless brunch in a group of over 20 people. Service was quite slow and only managed to get 4 cocktails over 2 hours. Servers were great and did their best to keep up, just slow service behind the bar. We were also 45 minutes in before we had ordered any food. The main disappointment was the extremely loud live music- so loud that we were completely unable to talk or socialise- a shame for such a big group who had come together to see each other. We asked several times (the staff and the performer) to turn it down with no luck. The performer himself wasn't bad, and did well to engage with customers- it's just a shame about the sheer volume. This live music was not advertised- if we had not been such a big group, we would have walked out pretty quickly as it's not the Saturday afternoon we had hoped for. Especially being such a big table who would be paying a big bill, it didn't feel like any effort was made to keep customers happy. Other tables were also complaining about the volume.
Overall just felt poorly organised, and they should not have accepted a booking for such a big group if they were unable to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThoroughly disappointing for somewhere run alongside the Sackville Bistro, which is great.
Strange layout - walk in, no where to be greeted/seated. Waiting staff arenāt overly friendly or efficient - guys making drinks behind the bar absolutely ragging it, waiting staff arenāt greeting people, sloppily laying tables, not talking when at the table. Makes no sense, business misses upsells and very easy opportunities to keep the customer engaged. Drinks are fantastic - they just take too long. Wait staff should be able to help with easier orders such as beers and wine, freeing bar staff up to make the great drinks. Food is on par with Wetherspoons small plates, just 4x the price - such a shame here as we were very excited. Either stick with this and reduce prices or actually make the food yourself and justify the cost.
Overall, left feeling drunk which is great, but everything else was such a shame. Been open for a long time, should have been able to get their act together by now but they havenāt. Staff require a talking to, pricing/food quality requires review internally. Until thatās done, The Lounge...
