Feedback on Recent Visit – Decline in Service and Food Quality

I've always had positive experiences at The Courtyard, but unfortunately, my last two visits — including Friday, 28th August — have been disappointing in terms of service and food quality.

On my recent visit, I ordered the homemade chips and a steak sandwich. While the chips were good, the steak was cold. I raised this immediately with the waitress, who said she would speak to the chef, but she did not return until I approached her again. Her explanation was that the food had been left on the side while drinks were being served. She simply said “sorry about that” and walked away, showing little concern or interest in resolving the issue.

Overall, I felt the staff were inattentive and unprofessional. They didn't appear to be enough staff on duty to handle the number of guests, both indoors and outside, so the slow service and lack of attentiveness were especially disappointing. I did not feel welcomed, and based on this experience, I’ll be looking to dine elsewhere in the future.

This morning I was due to visit with 2 friends at 10am. I have a puppy so I tried to call from 9am at opening up to 9.45am before I set off and no answer. I left a message but no reply. I checked trip advisor and it said dog friendly as are most places now. When I arrived my friends were sat inside and waiting for drinks. I asked if I was OK to bring dog in they said only outside. Well it's February and 5 degrees. I mentioned I had called and Trip Advisor said dog friendly but all I got was yes just outside. I said well it needs to be made clear. What upset me the most was not that I had to leave but, not one member of staff came out to me to apologise for not answering phone or that Trip Advisor was misleading. Totally ignored and humillillating. My friend came out to hold the dog whilst I went in to say hello to my other friend and still nothing from staff 🙃. Totally...

Lovely bar area, clean and well presented . Friendly staff. However, on arrival . We waited at the table for a while and when nobody served us , we ordered food and drinks at the bar. We then waited another 30 mins, and had to ask when our order was going to arrive. (Food and drinks!)The young girl told us it would be another 15 mins. The food arrived eventually, but we then had no cutlery, condiments etc to eat it with,for another five mins. Other customers were complaining and others walked out as they didn’t get served. All I heard as an excuse was that there was only one chef. Surely people need to know if there is going to be a delay as time is often limited at lunch time.
