“Nice food, but massively overpriced and mediocre service.”
I visited Munchy Hub and ordered a bacon and sausage on toast for £8. After paying, I asked politely if they could butter the toast, and was met with a look suggesting it’d cost extra. When I opened my food later, there was no butter at all.
Prices are seriously high for what you get. Small slices of cake are £6.50, and a can of Coke is £3. For comparison, there’s a Morrisons right next door where Smartwater costs just £0.95 and cans of Coke are £1.35—a lot cheaper than Munchy Hub’s £3 for water. So for cakes, drinks, and extras, you could easily go next door and save money.
I appreciate Munchy Hub’s prompt and polite response to my original feedback, particularly their apology regarding the missing butter on my order. However, I’d like to clarify and expand on a few points raised in their reply.
Firstly, while Munchy Hub describes itself as a café/restaurant, in practical terms it operates predominantly as a café offering casual counter service, sandwiches, and cakes, situated in the middle of a residential estate. It does not align with the broader definition of a restaurant experience that typically entails table service, an extensive cooked menu, and a more formal dining environment.
Regarding pricing, I fully accept that cafés and restaurants charge more than supermarkets due to overheads such as seating, ambience, and staff wages. That said, my issue is not with paying a fair premium for quality and atmosphere—it’s with the extent of the mark-up relative to the actual offering.
A bacon and sausage toastie costing £8, yet arriving dry without butter, reflects poor attention to detail and value.
Cakes at £6.50 per slice and canned drinks at £3 each are significantly above the going rate, even for independent cafés in more prime locations.
While freshly made food deserves a premium, this does not automatically justify prices that outstrip comparable local cafés offering similar quality.
Moreover, I found the food itself decent but unremarkable. The service felt transactional rather than genuinely welcoming, further diminishing the sense of “restaurant-level” hospitality Munchy Hub claims to offer.
In summary, Munchy Hub is a clean and modern café, but in my view, its pricing strategy is disproportionately high for both its location and the experience delivered. There are nearby options providing better value for money without sacrificing freshness or quality. For these reasons, I stand by my opinion that it’s overpriced, and I personally would not return.
Item Munchy Hub Price Nearby Alternative (Approx.)
Bacon & Sausage Toastie £8.00 £4.50 – £5.50 Slice of Cake £6.50 £3.00 – £4.00 Can of Coke £3.00 £1.35 (Morrisons) Bottle of Smartwater £3.00 £0.95 (Morrisons)
While I respect Munchy Hub’s commitment to fresh preparation, I believe the balance between price and value is simply not there. I hope this feedback helps others make an informed choice.
The food was decent but nothing special, and service was mediocre at best. Overall, it’s way overpriced, and you can find much better value elsewhere. I won’t...

Read moreI visited this cafe for the 1st time on Friday 19th May. If you haven't yet tried it...YOU MUST!!. Its a hidden gem.
Staff The couple and staff member present were extremely pleasant, welcoming and friendly.
Cleanliness The cafe is of a very high standard. Very clean, spacious, comfortable and a very relaxing environment.
Now the food / drinks We only dropped in for coffee and cake. We were certainly NOT DISAPPOINTED. Do not be put off by the prices as you CERTAINLY GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR (which makes a change).
I had the freshly made red velvet cake. I have to say this is one of the best I have ever tasted. I would HIGHLY recommend. My friend had a hot chocolate which she said was 'a really lovely chocolate'.
We also tried the mini croissants which were light, fresh and melted in your mouth.
This is most definitely going to be my regular when I'm in this area. I will be recommending to my friends who come to Salford on a regular basis on a Friday.
Looking forward to trying other things on the menu next time.
Well done guys giving such excellent...
