Took advantage of the eat out to help out initiative. Thoroughly enjoyed our lunch; filled to the eyeballs. Great service, thumbs-up. Update May 2022: The Woodside has undergone a major refurbishment - the decor was slightly tired before but the repairs have gone much further than a coat of paint or replacing the blinds. The entrance now boasts a York Stone floor, that is beautiful. The rest of the decor is reserved and stylish. There definitely feels like there is more space to wine and dine. The service remains excellent, the food has improved greatly - not that it was terrible before. Love the breakfast (keep our table free in the corner) the Sunday roast is plentiful, tasty and definitely value for money. Two thumbs-up. [It has dawned on me that if I review 'The Woodside' again I will have no more thumbs to point skywards. Marcus Aurelius didn't have this problem did he] Update March 2023: The large cooked breakfast is wonderful - it never disappoints; served with a pot of tea, even better. The excellent service continues. The makeover extends the outside space, on a sunny day it's delightful.

This restaurant is seated in a lovely “secret garden”. There are different sitting zones inside — normal dinning and dog friendly area. Loads of parking lots outside. The vibe in there welcomes you in an instant relaxing manner. Booking is straightforward online and the staff are really heart warming. Remembering the first time I have been there, on checking out, the lady proactively told me there is an offer if I downloaded their app to scan the QR code. We got half price off that dinner for two-course meals. This year we booked a table for Valentine’s Day. Food is amazing as always. The scallops and prawns in cheese as a starter were so creamy and I had the ribeye again which is not disappointing. The ice cream on brownie was definitely a delight to finish the night. It was just enough sweet to me and the texture was well controlled in harmony with the smoothness from the ice cream. Last but definitely not least, their cloudy fruity lemonades (3 flavours) all taste fantastic. I would go there even just for the drink. Overall, it is a great place to spend the evening and surely on my top 5 list.

I've visited following some good reviews. The place is very nice but not easy to find. Google took me to a dead end while the car park was on the other side, so I had to go back over a mile to get there. The interiors are clean and the place is well decorated. As soon as i went through the door I approached someone telling them I booked a table but he told me I had to speak to a man wearing a shirt. The man was busy so I had to wait standing on the door for about 5 minutes. The food was average, it took a lot to arrive and was nothing really special. I had the roast chicken and asked to swap my veg with triple cooked chips, but the chips were bad quality frozen chips for sure. Also my chicken was meant to be wrapped in bacon but it wasn't. I found it a bit overpriced for what I had. I really liked the starter, which was soy and seeds bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.

As a frequent visitor here this review has taken me over a week to write. I have lunch here every 3rd Thursday with ex work colleagues, it's mainly been great food and great service. last Monday (2/11) we had a friend from Bulgaria visiting so we booked a table for 3 here. Table was booked for 8:30, when we arrived the pub was about 30% full. We ordered some drinks and started to catch up, then ordered food, which was 1 starter and 3 mains. The starter arrived, was ok, nothing special. Then the mains came out, 1 chicken skewer and 2 fish and chips. The chicken skewer was shocking, the meat had a very off smell. The fish and chips were lukewarm, it seemed like everything had been sat under a lamp whilst the starter was being eaten. We told the waitress, who sort of laughed, certainly took it very light hearted and wasn't trying to resolve things, we complained some more, we asked to speak to the manager, the waitress went off to speak with him and came back to say the skewers had been removed from the bill. we then tried to order puddings, but were advised the kitchen was closed, this would be somewhere around 9:30/9.45. Asked for coffee but was advised the coffee machine was also switched off. Whilst I understand a kitchen closes and machines need to be turned off I felt a simple conversation from the waitress about this would have been the correct way to treat customers. This could have been pointed out when we were seated with menus. All in all a terrible night with the worst food and service we have ever had here. We have a table booked for next Thursday but are thinking long and hard about returning....

My partner booked this as we were going to see some Christmas lights at the local garden center and wanted tea before going to see them. It looked like a lovely cozy place but the service was extremely poor. We were seated and asked straight away what drinks we would like which is the norm but within 3 minutes approached by a waitress to see if we were ready to order food. With having a 1 year old child, trying to get them settled and looking at the menu takes a fair few minutes. I asked for 5 more minutes if that was okay, the waitress passed 3 times looking at us but never approached us again. 25 minutes had gone by and on a short ish time frame due to our booking for the lights I got up to find someone to take our order. Once receiving our food I wouldn't say it was anything to write home about and definitely doesn't reflect the price they charge for the meals. I had the curry which was extremely spicy and the chicken in it was almost just like frozen chicken out of a bag and my partner had a steak asked for medium rare but was definitely more on the rare side. For the price of the steak, I have had steak from my local stake house for half the price taste better, chips were too bad though. I'm not from around that area but definitely wouldn't re visit again if attending the lights...

I used to eat here on a regular basis. Today we booked a table for my mum birthday. The service was slow which we didn’t mind up until desserts where is felt we were waiting a long time to even get a menu. I got up and found the menus myself and the waiter eventually came back to take our order. The desserts (my favourite part) were below standard. I had a pavlova which was Just a big meringue with a blob of cream on top and some mango pieces and white chocolate buttons scattered around the side of the plate. After the cream had gone it was just dry. My mother had the honey comb desert but left half of it and said it tasted awful. After we put our spoons down we were immediately told we needed to leave the table, which my partner said we’d just finish our drinks and then going anyway. But we were told again we needed to leave the table. My partner told the waiter he was out of order to which he responded he didn’t need to be spoke to like that. Very disappointing considering the slow service. I was also disappointed with the menu selection - nothing special and lacking in my opinion. Won’t be coming again will stick to the old hall or some...
