Olivers Fish & Chips Quinton — Restaurant in Sandwell

Always used Olivers, didn't have a bad experience til Friday 17th November, paid £40 for Five meals, pizza overcooked and cold, mixed meat cold and a hair found in food! Phoned shop to try and resolve issues, I assumed I was speaking to manager, he apologised and offered to rectify when we ordered again, fast forward to today Friday 24th November, had to order direct over the phone, food came to £47, they offered to reduce to £40!! Not happy with this as food was terrible the week before I suggested £20 off, they suggested £12 off, we agreed, then we couldn't pay over the phone we needed cash!! Didn't have cash so needed to drive to cashpoint! Food arrived with items missing, got on the phone they apologised again and would send food out ASAP. The food was terrible again, cold mixed meat, rubbery fish. Delivery driver arrived and said we had to pay for missing items! I explained it was not our mistake it was theirs! He called his manager and passed phone to me, I politely asked his name, he had a really bad attitude saying "why do you need to know my name", I stated the food was terrible again this week, he started shouting and told me to go F@#k myself! I passed the phone back to the delivery driver, then I retrieved the food he just brought and said we wouldn't be ordering from Olivers again. Don't know if the establishment has changed hands but will never order from...

Update for August 2020, decided to give the place another go. First time, an order for four meals, in shop, no excuse, three items missing. Second chance, pie and chip where the pie was desiccated to such an extent, only a chisel could pierce it and the chips were ice cold. Third and final attempt 27th August. Ordered two battered roe and a scallop chip and a battered sausage with chips. Scallop was swimming in fat and the chips were soggy and cold , also the battered sausage was missing from the order, though paid for. Had a pizza delivered (4th attempt at ordering) it was deliveted an hour later than promised and stone cold. Treating customers like this is just disrespectful. I sincerely hope this business goes bust. When it was good in the past it was great but... depending on staff shifts, standards quickly went down hill. Ordered haddock on one occasion and it was undercooked and swimming in fat, likewise ordered mushy peas, got curry sauce. Also forgot to bring one of the orders I made - still charged me though. No refund!Not good when the proprietors are on hols and leave the business in the hands of extremely dopey staff the business falls apart! That original...

Visited for a takeAway just before last lockdown as I was in the area after work. Chippy is very clean, pleasant staff, excellent portions, great chips and my mate had a pizza. However the cod I had would appear to have been sitting for too long as it was very dry and chewy, and rather unpleasant to eat and digest, I left the batter for this reason. I think this was a case of it having been sat out for a while rather than the cooking process. Had it been fresh cooked it would have been a different story. So I’m knocking two stars off for that but adding one back on for the pizza and the excellent staff. I love my fish and chips but the fish really was awful on this occasion, however I think this was a one off and your experience will probably not be the same. I’d deffo go back if I’m in the area and try again but was ultimately disappointed...
