I was lucky enough to get a taster from the chef on the day of the trial opening as I work for the company that made the new kitchen. 1st of all the place is absolutely stunning, it looks like the inside of a palace. The whole place is absolutely amazing. The food was absolutely top notch & I would say don’t take my word for it but go & try it for yourself, you won’t be disappointed. I will be recommending this fine establishment to all of my friends & family. To be continued because I need a proper night out there which is on the cards in the next few weeks with friends.
Absolutely 10/10.
Edited to add extra information.
The new jewel in West Brom’s crown. September 2025 I had a taster of the food on the soft opening day as the company I work for made & refurbished the kitchen area. The place has been transformed in & out & looks stunning, you can even see the new sign from the M5. The taster was amazing & the obvious next step was to visit for a proper sit down dinner. The place is absolutely amazingly decorated with real swish furniture. It’s like eating in a palace dining room. The staff are on point & very attentive. My partner had a large pino & I had a pint of Aspalls to compliment my food. Both drinks were excellent. The food was gorgeous to look at & taste was amazing. We had the Island Inn mixed grill (that’s the big one) with Massala chips that were big & crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside & a peshwari naan. Everything was cooked hot & to perfection. You get a lot of food for the money, food that good at that value is wha you want in this economic climate. We will most definitely be back & will bring friends & family too. Try it for yourself, I’m 100% sure your review will be...

Read moreI used to frequent this pub very regularly many years ago. As part of my recent tour of Desi mixed grills, I thought I'd pop in to reminisce and eat.
Firstly I was surprised to see how nice it looks inside compared to back in the day. Very clean and stylish now. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming and friendly, the beer selection was ok, with Madri and Staropramen as the most premium ones there.
I have to say I was surprised when I tasted the food because it was exactly the same as it used to be. The mixed grill is nicely balanced and not overloaded with cheap wings, there were 4 lamb chops on it. It didn't look promising when it came out with very minimal smoking and sizzling, but everything on it was decent.
The only two slight let downs were that the naans were burnt and too firm, and we got given plain chips instead of masala chips.
That said, the chips were the absolute perfect texture you can get. We weren't going to bother bringing up the mistake, but the lady at the bar engaged us in chip-related conversation! so we just told her about the chips only, and she immediately went looking to rectify it, eventually refunding us the difference for those.
10-14 years ago, this was up there as one of the best places for a mixi, and I think now it's been forgotten about a little bit with these new ones popping up, but I have to say it's still...
