Anchor At The Abbey — Restaurant in Scotland

What I witnessed at the pub was really disappointing and sad. The bar staff, including the person who was said to be the “manager”, ignored a man who repeatedly asked if they were serving food. They then flat-out lied, claiming they only served people with reservations, which wasn’t true.

The man looked completely ordinary, was polite, and even quietly asked the “manager” why he was being so rude to him. It seemed he simply didn’t fit the kind of “vibe” they want there. Apparently, this is the sort of place that can refuse to serve you just because they don’t like how you look. The manager was truly rude and pretentious.

To emphasise, the man wasn’t causing any trouble at all. The snobbish attitude was appalling, this isn’t some Michelin-starred restaurant, it’s just an overpriced pub in Paisley.

A sad thing to witness. My first visit to The Anchor At The Abbey will...

Barmaid poured a drink when optic was still filling.. As there was 8 of us all wanting different amount of ice.. Explain this to barmaid.. Asked for a glass of ice let them help them selfs.. Was told it was EASIER for the bar maid to put ice in the glass. This was said with really bad attitude... It has never been a problem in the pass.. Let it go as was Xmas night out and was not letting anything spoil it.. Then soon colleges decides to get photos with Xmas decorations.. Was then shouted at by a fowl mouth barmaid not to touch the decorations.. This manner and attitude was unexceptable.. Many a good night we have had in this establishment and spent lots of money.. But...

Discovered this great establishment due to the 38 bus service route constantly getting cancelled every 10 mins from paisley to Glasgow.

Eventually had to pop in to use the ladies facilities and so glad I did.

The staff were lovely/friendly and made you feel very welcome. Ended up having a wine and chatting with bar staff whilst waiting for the next bus to turn up.

Will def return in the future when not waiting on a poor bus service and bring friends/ family, as the events I found out from staff that this bar offers such as quiz nights/ karaoke / live music sound brilliant and menu sounds...
