Really disappointing we have been using Gabriel's for many years and somewhere we have always enjoyed for either food or just a drink until today! Staff are usually always lovely and friendly but not today apart from the woman who was serving food was giving the type of service we would expect from Gabriel's. I booked a table for 5 to enjoy some drinks, watch the scotland rugby game and get some food with my Mum, Dad and Sister. When we arrived we were at one of the the high tables which wouldn't have been a problem but my mum who had a knee operation not too long ago struggles a bit we asked the manager if we could go to the other seats that would have been easier for her to use to be told a firm no it was booked. Now this was 2pm and the table said booked from 5pm, now if he had said sorry its booked but not until 5pm so as long as you are gone by then no problem but not even to be offered was poor. Then to watch 3 men come in after us just go and sit at the table without being challenged was very poor from a management point of view. We have spent a number of occasions watching the six nations in Gabriel's as it is always had done heavily advertised that you are supporting the rugby games. When we asked when the game was getting put on we were told 230pm? We thought the man behind the bar must have got timings wrong and asked again explaining the game started at 215pm to again be told 230pm. The Liverpool football game was on and when you looked around no one seemed to be watching to be honest. Previously if there had been football crossing over the bar team would have used a multi screen option and left the football on the big screen but put the rugby on one of the other screens. We were very much made feel that every request we had was an inconvenience. When we ordered food 3 of the 4 dishes came out and it was a good 5 minutes until the last one came after asking. Also no offer of sauces or condiments. However apart from the Gammon Steak being slightly cold the food all tasted nice. We stayed for the game, had food and a few drinks and spent approx £100 which I appreciate isn't a massive amount however as an industry recovering from the worst 2 years previously I would think that all revenue is bonus. So disappointed that a pub we would once have considered our first choice for these sort of things will now think twice about. We all have a member of staff that could be a bit more helpful but when it's the manager that is making you feel like an inconvenience what example is this...

Disappointing. We were regular customers pre covid, going 2/3 times per month. Went back today for the first time since covid and I don’t know if it has changed hands but our meal wasn’t what we were used to. My husband had the steak pie with a side of mash. The mash was advertised as buttery but it looked slightly grey not the normal white fluffy mash, although the steak pie was good. I ordered my favourite macaroni and cheese. It arrived but it was just cooked pasta with melted cheese on top, no cheese sauce was visible. I don’t normally complain but I was looking forward to it so I called over the member of staff who served us. He apologised and ordered another one. Obviously my husband had finished his meal before my second one arrived. The staff member served my macaroni for the second time which looked slightly better but the sauce wasn’t a thick cheesy sauce it was a very bland pale runny milky sauce. I had a few mouthfuls but decided just to leave it. Such a...

Writing to congratulate on excellent food enjoyed whilst visiting here as group of 3 people, on a Sunday night almost one hour before Euro final 2024 kicked off. (We wanted food, a meal out. My partner and sister a drink). Gammon and Pineapple for me was a total delight, 5 out of 5, easily, Mac and Cheese my partner and her sister enjoyed. Staff helpful polite. (My partner and her sister actually prefer music in a pub to football, so we asked advice after the meal, where to go). Simple meal but excellently prepared, extremely tasty. Finished the gammon, pineapple, garden peas, fried egg. My partner and sister both finished their Mac & Cheese. Centrally located in the town. Car parking very near on a Sunday evening for drivers (as I do not drink), Or train and bus in this large town centre. We did leave a reasonable tip for staff, which we ike to do when it is merited. Food really...

We visited this venue yesterday, staff were very polite and friendly, venue seemed clean and tidy. We had a meal, ordering no problem, staff came and took order at table, we had burger and chip, hunters chicken & chips, a small brownie with ice cream dessert costing £21.57. The salad leaves on the meal could of been fresher, and the meal seemed like a pub heated up meal, service was quick ( well we were the only once in there eating), staff did keep coming through, checking on us. Would i visit again .... yes, would i recommend it... yes

I've been in Gabriel's twice this month. Once for a 30th party, the other for a funeral. It was a great venue for both gatherings. My only grumble was that there didn't appear to be a disabled loo in the function room area. I'm sure there'll be one through in the pub/lounge area, and I managed OK on my crutches, but it was just an observation. I loved how light & bright it was during the day, due to the the sky lights.

Pints are usually stale. You get the impression the managing staff don't care. Spot lights shinning on the TV screen. Pints aren't awful but never fresh either. Service can be slow at restaurant. Temperature in restaurant can be cold. Cheap meals. Despite being served by a lady wearing a Ask Me For A Guinness t-shirt, she topped up by not pushing the tap forward and the Guinness was stale (not her fault).
