Tucked away in a charming cobbled street in the heart of Falkirk, Brina's Jamaican Kitchen is more than just a restaurant; it is an experience..... A labour of love. The restaurant's warm and inviting ambiance, accentuated by large windows and tasteful decor, creates a serene experience. The fresh flowers adorning the tables add a touch of elegance, making the space feel welcoming and cared for. The attention to detail extends beyond the décor - the clean and well-maintained restroom and baby changing facilities demonstrate a commitment to providing a comfortable experience for all guests. The food, of course, is the star of the show. We were offered complementary cassava crisps while we waited on our meal – a great appetiser and great way to warm up our jaws in preparation for our meal. 😊 The beetroot salad was a refreshing starter, with the earthy sweetness of the beetroot perfectly balanced by the tangy goat's cheese. For the main course, I had the rich and flavourful goat curry (which I highly recommend), paired with the legendary house chips and the colourful homemade slaw salad. For dessert, I indulged in the warm and comforting cinnamon bread pudding, topped with a generous scoop of vanilla ice cream. A perfect way to end the delicious lunching experience. The exceptional customer service was the cherry on the cake. The staff was attentive, friendly, and went the extra mile to ensure that we were taken care of. Subrina's passion for Jamaican cuisine is evident in every dish, and her dedication to creating authentic and delicious food, presented with impeccable style, is a testament to her professionalism. Her food is the equivalent of a warm hug, and her restaurant offers excellent value for money, making it well worth the trip from Edinburgh. Asante sana for taking care of us!

My wife and I literally found this place by chance because of the signs outside Howgate shopping mall. If you’ve ever wanted to try Jamaican food, this is the place to go to. My little family and I walked into the shop and we were greeted by a lovely lady called Brina. We informed her we wanted to order some authentic Jamaican food for takeaway but honestly, we had already made our mind up on anything jerk chicken and oxtail which was conveniently there. We asked her to make it spicy and she informed us that it already comes with a nice kick of spice. Since it was our first time trying Jamaican food, Brina gave us complimentary plantain chips/fries. We had a few drinks while we waited for our order. Atmosphere in the restaurant was very chilled. Brina had informed us earlier that it was actually a slow night that evening which I really appreciated. We got our takeaway and let me tell you, lines were drawn when we got home with my family. I personally love the Jerk chicken with the rice and beans. My wife swears that the oxtail with the rice is the best. Since it’s my review, I’m going to say the Jerk chicken is the best. I didn’t eat much of the plantain. I only ate one however my wife enjoyed them and she says they are nice. Overall, I appreciated the hospitality from Brina and her colleagues. She was lovely as well. Sorry for the long story.

A visit to this little gem has been on the cards for a while and man am I glad we choose it tonight for dinner! The decor was lovely and relaxed with a nice authentic feel to it and the reggae music just sets the tone. We had a lovely welcome by a male member of staff (didn’t catch his name, Asian man) and he was very attentive. We went for starters- we ordered the red stripe beer jerk wings and were looking for the mango prawn tacos but they had run out (no big deal, will get them next visit I’m sure), so we just had the wings each. These were delicious and So full of flavour and just the right amount of them. For mains we both went with jerk chicken and a side of fried plantain. This did not disappoint! It was superb. The meat lovely and juicy and tender, packed full of that jerk seasoning, perfectly cooked rice and peas and a lovely sauce to compliment it all. The pomegranate seeds also worked really well with it all. The fried plantain was also really good! We also really liked the traditional Jamaican drinks- we tried a fruit punch, pineapple & ginger, sparkling grapefruit and a kola champagne. Brina came over to check all was ok and it was lovely to meet the lady behind the apron! I am going to Jamaica in a few months on holiday and this really has got me right in the mood! Cannot wait to return to try some of the other dishes on offer.

We found this place earlier today after seeing a sign on the main street. Standing outside the smell drew us in, it smells amazing. The staff were prety friendly to start with and the choices on the menu sounded good and very promising.

We liked the fact they had different drinks other than the normal you get everywhere, so we thought we'd try some fruit juice. We poured it in to the glass then realised the best before date was mid march or visit was the 5th of May.

When we pointed this out to a woman who was staning about like she owned the place said she'd check with the chef, she took the bottles away and binned then and came back and told us this was the best before date and still OK!! (No thank you) "NOT IN A RESTARANT, IT IS OUT OF DATE)

We were served our food mains came before the started then the starter chicken wings came just after mains, the chicken wings were lovely couldn't fault them, so much flavour and should have been a taste of what was to come

My wife had a salad wich she did quite enjoy but as she's pregnant and with the juice being out of date, she was a bit wary of the cheese on it, if it was in date or not so it was left

I had a jerk chicken, first impressions were it looked amazing and first couple of bites at the edge it tasted as good as it looked but, the further I cut in it was stone cold in the middle to a stage it was almost frozen. The woman came back over and asked if everything was OK. I said it was cold she disappeared again and the chef came storming out the kitchen. Asked what was wrong could she make it again. By this time I was done, I said it was fine I would just leave it. The chef said she wouldn't charge us for the meals and picked up all the plates and stormed back into the kitchen.

We love finding little places like this that give you a taste of something different from parts of the world you don't always get the chance the visit and we really wanted it to be good.

On our visit it wasn't good. You can't serve people out of date drinks in a restarant and food has to be cooked or warmed up properly, not the best experience atall, you really are only as good as your last dish and ours weren't good. You also shouldn't argue when your wrong your wrong.

Unfortunately we won't be back and also won't recomend which is a shame as there was so much...

I had been wanting to try this place for ages so went here earlier today for lunch.

The food was as expected very tasty but unfortunately the whole experience was let down by the poor service.

I had ordered a jerk chicken wrap with plain house fries. What I received was jerk chicken and the spiced Jamaican fries. When I questioned the server about this he stated that this was substituted due to the kitchen running out of wraps. For a start, I find this extremely hard to believe considering we went at opening time on a Friday afternoon when most of the lunch menu consists of wraps. Two, a few minutes after being told the kitchen was out of wraps, another table was served wraps.

If an order has to be substituted due to low stock then we should really be told beforehand. Not only this, but the substitution cost more than my original order. It seems to me that there was an honest mistake made by the server and instead of owning up to it and offering an alternative he just lied about it to make his life easier.

So all in all, this pretty much ruined the experience. Which is a shame, because the food was actually very nice.

Update:

In response to the reply from the establishment in question It’s quite astounding. Now accusing me of falsifying the information in the review and confirming the fact that there were indeed wraps and it was a mistake of the server. Yes, you can confirm timings when I was there and who I was with. But what reason would I have to falsify the information and leave a bad review?

As I stated beforehand, I asked the dish to be returned for a wrap but I was told that the wraps were indeed out of stock. So I asked for the fries to be changed so my son could at least eat them. That is correct. But it seems it is my word against the server. Now again, why would I lie about this just in order to write a bad review? What benefit would it be for me. The only matter is here that the staff in your restaurant find it perfectly acceptable to lie about their mistakes and with this response it seems this attitude towards their customers runs deeper.

Just a tip for the future. For situations arising like this again. It might be good practise just to admit that there was a mistake made and try to rectify it as best as you can instead of coming up with excuses and blaming...
