I'd been looking forward to returning to Café Alba, it was excellent the last time we were there. Unfortunately this time the service took some time and the food was lukewarm. Still tasty and good ingredients, but my eggs Benedict had obviously sat for a bit before they were brought out. I ate them all the same because we waited a while to order then for the food to arrive and were too hungry to wait again. I did mention to the waitress, can see it's not her fault that there aren't enough staff to go around. Excellent home made soup, properly made, with a hot toasted sandwich (not half a sandwich as in some places) and what had been intended as a light lunch will see me through for the day at a great price.
Staff are very friendly and give a good service. I recommend that if you are heading out on the WHW then call in here first - the start of your hike is only a short 100 metres from their door and you are guaranteed an excellent breakfast to see you...
Read moreMy wife and I went in this morning, a few empty tables so we sat down, the tall blonde with the pony tail came over and wiped the table without as much as a smile and didn’t even acknowledge the fact we were sitting there, she then threw the two menus onto the table and they slid across the table, at this point we walked back out of the cafe and won’t be back, we have eaten here before and had no problems. We proceeded along to Garvies where we were treated as you should be, menu’s handed to you with a smile from the very pleasant staff.
