Jessie Biscuit — Restaurant in Scotland

Had a little time to kill at 4:45pm yesterday so thought we would pop in to a local cafe for a coffee.

We hardly had our feet in the door when we were told "Sorry, guys, we're closed. Our coffee machine's switched off."

Given that they say they close at 5, why is the coffee machine switched 15 minutes beforehand?

Also, if they're not prepared to serve anyone for the last 15 minutes, why not put the closed sign up? Really poor customer service and they clearly do not want your business!

For all the girls behind the counter know, we might not have wanted coffee, but a cup of tea! Doubt it would have made difference though.

This coffee shop had been selected as the venue for meeting my best friend from school, whom I hadn't seen for 45 years - and couldn't have been better! Very busy throughout our visit, but never too loud to chat and we never felt overcrowded. Staff coped amazingly well and always with good humour and courtesy; the whole atmosphere was one of welcome and warmth. Cakes and coffee were first class. Service was very fast despite the cafe being very busy. The staff managed to keep a cool head and were very friendly. Gluten free options were pretty good. Food was excellent - clearly homemade and very tasty. Only fault is that it is quite small so was a but cramped but I expect that it only felt that way due to the lunch time rush! Would definetely return as compared to competing cafes it's Gluten free options...
