Cake or Dice — Restaurant in Scotland

I recently visited this place for the first time with a group of friends, and we had an amazing experience. It’s a fantastic spot, especially if you’re looking for fun without needing to drink. The selection of games is impressive—almost overwhelming—with something for everyone. The large tables were perfect for our group of seven, allowing us all to sit together comfortably.

The coffee is among the best in Dundee, and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive, taking the time to explain everything to us. The prices for food and drinks were very reasonable, especially compared to other cafés, which meant we could relax and stay longer without feeling like we were overspending. The menu was a standout feature too, offering gluten-free and vegan options, which meant everyone in our group could find something to enjoy.

I’d highly recommend this place to anyone—families, groups of friends, or even solo visitors. I only wish we’d discovered it sooner! We’ll definitely be back, and I’m already planning to bring my family for a game day or enjoy an evening here with my partner for a fun date that doesn’t involve wine.

Places like this are a breath of fresh air and should be opening up all over Scotland. It’s such a wonderful addition to the community, and I honestly can’t praise it...

I had a mixed experience today. I was there with my wife, my 4 and 9 year old. I ordered 2 cold drinks, which when they arrived I noticed they were filled to different levels.

The coffee I had was lovely and partner enjoyed her tea.

The food. My wife had a bacon roll and loved it, it looked fantastic. This came to our table a good bit before the rest of the food.

We then got 1 portion of the 2 mozzarella sticks and my portion of chips with cheese. I asked about the other mozzarella sticks which then arrive about 5 minutes later.

The kids enjoyed their mozzarella and I ended up being hugely disappointed with the chips and cheese. Chips were a mixed bag, some ok and some I had trouble Piercing with a fork, I ended up leaving most of it.

No one checked on how things were but the staff were nice enough.

It's clearly a very inclusive space, very welcoming so I'll be giving it another shot down the line. If i have the same experience again though I doubt I'll be back for food.

That said my partners food was great, the kids...

A fantastic atmosphere, the owners are knowledgeable with their boardgames and craft. Always welcomed with a good chat and a smile from everyone that works there. A great selection of games for all levels, from the beginner gamer to the obsessive like myself. I always manage to find a new game to try and the owners have plenty of suggestions that always seem to fit our group.

There is a good selection of different tasty food options, including vegan and vegetarian options and gluten free. Good value for money and tasty too. The milkshakes and cakes are amazing! The brownies are fab.

Theres plenty of tables and space even when it's busy. Never had trouble finding a table even at weekends. Very accessible and lovely bunch of people there to help if you need it.

Overall a great place to have a drink, and cake, or spend a few hours just chatting or playing games....
