I regret having to write this review as on many previous experiences this restaurant has been nothing but good in both hospitality and quality, but this one instance has brought all future visits from me to an end. I attended here with a friend the other night and we normally order a light meal, this has never been an issue as there is no minimum order specified on the menu, but this time the person serving us took massive issue with it. This gentleman informed us loudly in front of other attendees that Tulsi was "not a takeaway" - never mind the fact that during our entire meal another staff member could be heard on the phone loudly dealing with takeaway orders. We ended up ordering a slightly more substantial meal because of this interaction. I have longstanding issues with food due to acid reflux, medication and chronic illnesses. As a result of this I am not always able to eat a large quantity of food, I should not have to divulge this nor my eating habits to a staff member in order to not be shamed. I was sick twice in the bathroom because of how the previous interaction affected me - along with the fact that I am sensitive to MSG and the rice tasted like it was laced with the stuff, there was no mention of this on the menu. Near the end of our meal a bill was abruptly handed to us, we had not requested it but the fact that this happened mad it very clear to us that they no longer wanted us in the restaurant and were unwilling to wait until we had finished eating. Other issues I would like to raise are the cleanliness of the plates and table cover. My friend brought it to the server’s attention that his plate was dirty, to fix this situation the server took my plate and gave it to my friend which in turn left me without a plate the entire meal. My friend and I had left, but shortly after this my friend went back to let the staff know what had gone on. They simply responsed that I should have informed them of my eating habits during the order, not like that would have solved the rudeness brought about by the staff during this ordeal. In conclusion, do not attend this establishment if you have any conditions or food habits which may open you to being different to their normal customers, they will not be best pleased and will shame you for it. My rating is only two stars, this is in part due to the friendliness of the elderly gentleman which took down our details and the previous experiences here.

I appreciated the touch of elegance brought by the white tablecloths at Tulsi—it set a welcoming tone. The mixed starter plate, however, leaned heavily toward chicken, and could have used more variety to feel balanced. On a brighter note, both the garlic and coconut breads were freshly made and satisfying. The lentil soup stood out with a lovely kick of flavor that lingered pleasantly. We tried four different chicken curries, each offering its own distinct and authentic taste. However, the sauces were a bit too thick for my preference, slightly overwhelming the dishes. That said, the overall experience still felt genuinely rooted in traditional flavors. We will definitely do take-out with Tulsi to enjoy the bread and fried vegetables

Amazing menu & amazing staff, never went here much during university, however the food is fantastic and I love the service and fusion style. I recommend this over the Thai Pop-Up even though they are intimately linked, it’s just a better Maisha (apart from the chat pats and deep fried rupchunda)

Most horrendous experience I’ve had in a long time. First of all my starter was literally inedible. I asked for a prawn cocktail and once it arrived I was shocked to see that the chef had dumped roughly 2 ladles worth of sauce onto the salad, which consisted of supermarket lettuce and pre cooked prawns. I politely explained my issue to the waiter, he returned around 5-6 minutes later with another prawn cocktail however for some reason the chef had reduced the portion size to a third of what I originally had. On top of this when receiving our mains the waiter made a condescending remark asking me whether there was too much sauce which made me feel very uncomfortable. I ordered a beef teriyaki pad Thai for my main, and what arrives? Flipping greasy noodles that you get out of a 90p packet and tough bits of beef along with raw carrot, raw tomato and raw bell pepper. It was the strangest concoction I had ever seen, very very far from a pad Thai. The portion was tiny and I was left hungry. I will never ever be returning, the prices are extortionate, we paid £70 and there was only 2 of us. The waiters are rude. The chef is most likely drunk, and I hope this review steers you away from...

My reviews are shifting gears to focus on how well restaurants are doing with managing covid issues. Things like staff properly wearing masks over nose and mouth, disposable one use menus, greeter taking contacting tracing information for you instead of you filling in a log book, reviewing proper covid protocol with customers before seating them, pointing out hand sanitizer locations, table separation and social distancing, restricting movement inside by patrons, sanitizing tables and chairs, one way traffic flow in one door out another, paper towels in bathrooms with sanitizer stations so doors aren't spreading from door hand contact, plastic partitions between booths, using planters to divert food traffic around tables to maintain distancing, doing logical things to prevent spreading covid. They get one star here. Staff not wearing masks properly. The manager or owner constantly took his mask down under his chin to talk to staff and customers. Terrible job overall of Covide management. . Food was great. Service was excellent. Was nervous the entire time watching all the unnecessary risk. Order take away or delivery...do...
