I'm not one for writing bad reviews as I work in the hospitality trade plus rarely get a bad experience in restaurants, I know that we are only human and can make mistakes but if you are not going to put the same amount of effort in to a meal as you do when you start your shift to when the kitchen is "Closing in 5 minutes" then but I'm sorry you shouldn't be allowing your front of house staff to take orders 5 minutes before closing since the chefs left before we even had our meal infront of us...So we got sat down outside where we picked waited up to 3/5 minutes for a menu hurried on to order so i chosen to have the beef burger which was a bit on the greasy side but was edible, Our little boy had some chips due to not being offered a kids menu, my partner chosen to have the Spaghetti bolognese which looked to be flung together in a greasy tomato water barely edible tasted better microwave Spaghetti bolognese....Service we were not asked once how our meal was up until we were finished when the lovely chap eventually appeared so we got the bill while this lovely chap was giving us the bill may I add thank you for the kind gesture of taking one of the meals off the bill I appreciate that but what I didn't appreciate was when giving us the bill was taking it upon yourself to read my partners messages on her phone to our friend who recommend and said how lovely you restaurant was along with myself reading the reviews...we are extremely disappointed with the food and service but I would like to thank tesco who saved the day with a meal deal for our long journey back home *Spaghetti bolognese in the pictures below*

Always visit when on holiday in Oban and must say it was excellent again. Had the foresight to book a table as we know it can get busy so basically walked straight in and had a lovely table looking over the harbour in minutes. The staff were very busy but were friendly, polite and attentive. The food was outstanding, piping hot and obviously freshly made, our pizza's were simply delicious as was the garlic bread we couldn't eat it all but the waitress was more than happy to box the pizza we couldn't manage. But this know left room for dessert, waffles and a sundae both were lovely not too heavy. All in all another excellent meal can't wait to return, highly recommend.

Me and my partner visited Oban and found this place on our first night there. We had a fantastic time, we were especially happy with the atmosphere, it was nice and lively but you could have a clear conversation at low volume, perfect for us. All the food was delicious and came quickly, they also serve Skye Gold, a great Scottish beer. The menu also clearly describes the different kinds of pasta which is much appreciated! The location is fantastic and offers great views of the harbour and the ocean. We were also very happy the prices, our bill came to around £40 per head, which for starters, mains + sides, desserts and drinks is very fair!!

We went in at 12 for start of lunch time sat down waited five minutes to get drinks order taken and ordered up the food about 12.15-12.20pm. Waited till 12.40pm for my starter Polpettine which was really nice. Then waited till 1.25pm for our main meals at this point we were just about to get up and leave as no one came over to see if we wanted more drinks and if everything was ok customer serivce very lacking overall but the plates arrived. By the time we got our main meals other customers had already paid and left that arrive just after us. The person servicing the mains asked if we wanted pepper and more drinks then left in the middle of my partner asking her for stuff as someone shouted on her and never came back waited 5 minutes and my partner had to go up and ask for it again. So for the mains my partner had the Lasagna,Chips and added a side of Mozzarella Sticks. But got garlic bread instead and when she told the girl she never ordered it she didn't believe her at first said are you sure. So the side didn't arrive till she almost finishing her meal which she said was good, but the Mozzarella Sticks were over cooked and had burst meaning the insides were empty shells and not great really. So i asked for, Linguine Pollo alla Aglio. Which is. Breast of chicken poached in garlic butter served in a creamy chive sauce. But what I got and we did point it out that the pasta wasn't right. But I tried it anyway as didn't want to reorder food after waiting over 1 hour and 25 minutes just to get it and it did look and tasted of Spaghetti Carbonara with dry bits of chicken. Also the spaghetti had been on the plate for a while as it had dried out at bits and wasn't soft when eating was kinda tough chewing at bits. At no point did the chicken taste of anything really nevermind poached in any garlic butter certainly wasn't any of that flavour on it was no flavour at all just dry chicken. I handed my meal back and i never hand any food back ever but today was a first as it really wasnt great. My starter was amazing the main was a big let down and i left the restaurant still hunger and normally have 3 courses when out not today sadly. Then you have the service charge £10 odds added which we only paid a percentage of so fair enough and my main was removed from my bill without any questions which again was good of them. Only good thing I can say is my starter was great and my partner enjoyed her main meal everything else not good. But for 2hours in a restaurant that had little to no service at all really...

Decent Italian in Oban…with a side of attitude (and not from the staff)

We thought we had pre-booked a table at an Italian restaurant in Oban. Sadly, age is creeping up like a stealthy ninja and I couldn’t remember which one. I was 90% sure it was Piazza, so after wrestling with the local phone reception long enough to make a carrier pigeon look appealing, I confirmed…ish.

Turns out they couldn’t find the booking — but to their credit, they still managed to squeeze us in for 7:30pm. So far, so good.

The restaurant sits on the North Pier with lovely views of Oban Bay, providing there isn’t a CalMac ferry parked outside blocking it all. Top tip: if you're after scenic dining, ask for an upstairs seat — fewer ferry hulls, more sunsets.

The place was busy, with a cute outdoor area complete with a water bowl for four-legged patrons — a thoughtful touch. Sadly, inside, not all the customers were as well-behaved as the dogs.

As we stood waiting to be seated, an auld leather-faced banshee and her two equally miserable sidekicks bulldozed past us and a group of young girls who had been patiently waiting. If it was a funeral parlour, I'd have let the grim old trio through without hesitation — it’d feel fitting. But this was dinner, not death, and karma served them nicely as they were firmly told to wait their turn. ⭐

Watching them glower like the three witches from Macbeth as we were seated and I cracked open my beer was chef's kiss.

Speaking of beer — a minor gripe: no draft, only bottled, which loses them a star. Bottled beer at £5 or £6 always feels like a posh hostage situation, but at least it was drinkable.

The young girls serving us were excellent — attentive, friendly, and probably used to dealing with entitled old dragons.

Starters of meatballs and chicken tenders were lovely. Mains? Carbonara was decent, though a little watery — easily rescued by drowning it in parmesan. The tomato penne was spot on.

Bread and butter? More “soup roll from Greggs” than “artisan Italian selection,” but hey, I wasn’t expecting Milan on a plate for that price.

In summary: Decent food, great staff, good views (if you dodge the ferry), and satisfying people-watching — especially if you enjoy seeing entitled pensioners get knocked down a peg.

Ideal for wine lovers or those who can stomach bottled beer. Would I return? Aye — but I’ll memorise the...

Arrived at this restaurant at 2.55pm and was promptly sat outside which we chose. To then be told "kitchen closes at 3pm so if you just want to give me the order quickly" we werent given menus for at least 3 minutes after this. So quickly scanned the menu and i decided upon spaghetti bolognes my parter got a cheese burger. We had to order a side of chips for my son as no child menu available or offered if they do have one!. Food arrived almost 10minutes later. And i could tell straight away this spaghetti wasnt anything like the reviews. Mine sat in a bowl of greasy, watery sauce. The mince was mushy and lacked that rich sauce youd expect. Not once during thr meal did anyone come to ask if anything was needed/everything okay. Upon the waiter spotting us looking around rather helplessly he came over and asked "all good for you?" To which i replied unfortunately not and explained to how the spag bol was sat in water and he replied "if you didnt like it i cant do anything if you dont tell me and kitchen is closed so i cant get anything else for you" i explained how I didn't want another meal and how im disappointed in yhe meal not that I just "didnt like it". My friend had recommended this place so naturally as one does i sent them a message including the picture ill include on here. The waiter arrived with the bill and infomed us he had removed the spaghetti from the bill. I had placed my phone upon the table put of curiosity while the waiter had arrived back to engage in conversation. To which it became apparent that the waiter took it upon himself to READ my personal message which was on my phone and began saying "oh youve already wrote bad things" . Then backtracked as he noticed i was shocked hed read my phone. Between me and my partner we have worked in the busy restaurant industry for almost 10 years and i would never expose any customers to this type...
