Golden Ocean — Restaurant in Scotland

Chose this restaurant after reading some positive reviews. What a disappointment. Really poor service. Ordered 1 starter 2 mains and 2 sides. A table of 4 people who came in after us were served their meal before us. 1 man who also came in behind us had his meal and left before we were served!! When we pointed this out, the starter arrived - spring rolls. When I bit into it, it was frozen in the middle. No apology received but another spring roll was quickly served surprisingly considering how long the first one took to arrive. Drinks weren’t great either. A Guinness and a soda water and lime. The soda water was flat. We asked for 2 glasses of water. A jug arrived which was fine but no glasses arrived so we shared the glass the soda and lime had been in. My husband didn’t fancy using his Guinness glass. Things go wrong sometimes but the least you should expect is an apology which we didn’t get. So...being one of only a few Asian style restaurants on the island the Golden Ocean doesn't have much competition and unfortunately it showed, when we ordered the other day. Now we have used Golden Ocean before and the food has been just about OK at best but on this occasion it seriously let it self down. Waiting over an hour for our order which didn't arrive (I left after an hour) when we were told it would be 15 mins, was very dissapointing. If the food was normally amazing and the service was polite then maybe just maybe I would just put it down to one of those things but it's normally not and the service is always bad at best! It's not hard to be good on an island of only one Chinese restaurant!!!! But its managed to be poor,...

We came all the way from Belgium for our holiday on Lewis & Harris. We ordered 3 dishes by phone. Our order 'number 2' would be ready in 15 to 20 min. When we arrived the following numbers already receiving their food. We saw all people come and go, while we had to wait 1 hour and 15 min. I had the feeling, because we were 'foreigners', we had to wait extra long. When I asked if our order perhaps got lost, the girl at the counter said they had to prepare the noodles again. We were then all alone in the takeaway. Afterwards when I was eating , I found a piece of glass in my food. So beware, if you are visiting Lewis...don't order there!
