When passing trhu Mallaig last thursday morning with my partner, we stopped by to have breakfast. We were attended by a quite unfriendly lady. When ordering 2 capuccinos she asked if we wanted a chocolate topping, to which we answered yes. We also ordered 2 jac-o-bite breakfast combos. The capuccinos weren't served with chocolate, but with a spoon of powdered milk sprinkled on top...and there wasn't any bacon or cheese in our breakfast. When asking the waitress only about the latter issue, she said that both were inside the scone in our plates, which obviously wasn't true and made it clear that she was playing us for fools.
So far we were really enjoying our holidays in the Highlands and delighted with the extreme niceness of the people we met. We weren't ready for that kind of behaviour. Maybe we were served according to our appearance, not looking local, as we saw the waitress being nice to other people. Though we were being very polite and smily all along.
23£ for that service seems...
Read moreWould have been okay but the lady working lost it at me for using a plug. Her sign said not to unplug anything already plugged in... So I used a free plug. This in the end is a bummer for the cafe as i had hours of work to do... They missed out of hours of coffee and tea drinking along with lunch and snacks - silly move.
Ps bacon was abit undercooked 🙂
Edit after reply from owner - After a reply like this I'm happy I gave you a one star. When choosing to buy what was a subpar coffee at an expensive price - we're hoping for more than just the food and drink... We're looking for a service too. You have to provide more than just the convince of waiting 10 minutes for a cup of hot brown water - an easy no brainer is... Plug sockets. It's like going to the pub and it being empty just you and the bar man. No atmosphere, live music, singing... Nothing - what's the point... Go to the co op and buy a pack of 4 cannies for the price of one pub beer (or in your case a whole pot of coffee for the...
Read moreJust want to share what a beautiful cafe this is. We have been in twice during out visit to Scotland. The first time we went in with our sausage dogs and they came straight over with a bowl of water and some biscuits and were really friendly. The food that time came out quickly and the portion sizes were good. The second time we went in without the dogs as we had been on the train. The same lady recognised us and our daughter came over so say hello and asked if our dogs were enjoying their holiday. The food again came out quickly despite how busy the cafe was. The portion sizes were good and the food was nice. The lady before we left gave my little girl a present and also gave us something for the dogs too. It was such a lovely gesture and we would definitely be back if we...
