Discovered this delightful little bakery while waiting for the ferry across to Skye. It's in a quaint and rustic-looking stone building on the old cobbled quay. The staff were both courteous and friendly. There was such a wide and tempting selection of croissants and pastries on display, as well as bread rolls with various fillings. Bought a pastel de nata (a delicious mini custard tart with flaky pastry) and a cappuccino to enjoy on the outside terrace, and a seeded roll filled with Parma ham and cheese to eat on the ferry. There was no indoor seating, and limited seating outside, but I managed to find a small table with a lovely view of the harbour. Above average prices, but everything I bought here was fresh and way above average quality. A lovely place to stop for a coffee break just a short stroll from the ferry terminal.

We stopped by this shop while waiting for the ferry in Mallaig at around 12 pm. There were some sausage rolls, croissants, pastries, and sandwiches available but it definitely looked like the shop were nearing selling out. I got a focaccia sandwich, maple pecan danish, and hot chocolate. The focaccia was very soft and fluffy and had parma ham, buffalo mozzarella, tomato, and basil in it. I thoroughly enjoyed this sandwich. The maple pecan danish was crispy and flakey and the hot chocolate was great for the rainy day. It's not a very sweet hot chocolate but the homemade marshmallow added to it was perfect. There is a small amount of seating outside and it was very well sheltered from the rain. This is definitely worth a stop in Mallaig.

You've survived the train journey from Glasgow in the scabbiest dirtiest cold draughty carriages Scotrail.co.uk can provide (only 4 and one toilet)a disgrace to a beautiful journey and you exit into the run down wasteland that is Mallaig station. All is not lost. Before you board your western Isles ferry pop into the Bakehouse if your lucky you will arrive when they're making sandwiches. The foccacia is sublime,as is the heat and cooking smells. When are Scotrail.co.uk going to upgrade that shocking experience can't really call it a "service".

This place is a haven on a windy & cold morning when nothing else in the town is open at 9:30am.

I had the mushroom & cheese croissant ๐Ÿฅ which was warm inside, with multiple cheeses balanced to perfection. The mushrooms were cooked & seasoned appropriately with a flavour profile that could convert anyone to a mushroom ๐Ÿ„โ€๐ŸŸซ lover. Worth the trip just for this!

Also tried the orange ๐ŸŠ& cardamom bun - a modern (maybe scottish?) take on the swedish cardamom bun. The orange syrup/glaze is not just on top but all through the bun - very lovely fruity sweet flavour (not marmalade, not bitter).

Its a small bakery (standing room to order, then get out ๐Ÿ˜†), and offers oat milk as alternative to dairy for itโ€™s coffee. Lovely...
