We disembarked the Jacobite train and chose The Tea Garden to enjoy scones and tea. A nice man seated us promptly. After we were seated, the manager/owner barked at us and asked if we were eating lunch. I replied that everyone in our party of five would be eating and ordering drinks. Two of us wanted only scones and tea and were denied. The lady/manager/owner barked again and said that we had to order from the menu. I replied that we were all ordering from the menu. She persisted that we had to order a sandwich or lunch item, not just a scone and tea. Why wouldn’t you be able to order just scones and tea at a place called… The TEA Garden? Especially when the three other people at our table spent over 50 pounds on their lunch. So, the other two of us were forced to order a very bland egg salad sandwich in order to be able to order scones and tea. Couldn’t just order scones and tea… at The TEA GARDEN.

The table next to us… a table of three lovely people. The parents were eating soup. The daughter hadn’t ordered anything so the same lady came over and told her she had to order.

Some of the other tables with what we suspected to be local patrons were able to order tea and scones only.

The egg salad sandwich as well as the scones were subpar at best. Our table of five spent over 80 pounds total and none of us were at all impressed by the food. Would not recommend...

Absolutely disgusting experience … we went in for some food and something to drink, the staff said they are dog friendly … me and my 2 dogs are sat down quietly, getting ready to order, until one of the workers young child comes in riding in bright green peddle bike and the wheels are noisy on the floor, which made my dogs bark. We went to leave because we were FULLY aware our dogs are barking and didn’t want our dogs to continue barking … on the way out, I just tried to explain that it was the bike they were barking at, not the child, only to be told ‘this is my cafe’ ‘I’ve had collies before I know they are highly strung’ … yours might of been, but mine are not highly strung at all, the noise simply scared them (the 5 month old puppy was that scared he didn’t want to walk past the bike to leave) just a simple ‘don’t worry about it’ and a smile would of been sufficient given you can see we are leaving anyway … I have never met anyone so rude before, absolutely disgusting person who should not have a cafe if this is how they...

Absolutely shocking way to run a business, we wanted a coffee and cake but were told we couldn’t have cake unless we ordered a meal as well. When I asked the reasoning behind this the last said it was because the f profit, well I’m sorry but i think that is so wrong and to be honest they could make a good amount of profit on cakes and a coffee because the customer isn’t taking the table up for as long as someone having a meal so it would be a quick turn around without having to turn as many people away, they must have turned loads of people away while we were there. I did order a sandwich and it was ok nothing special but I didn’t end up having cake as well as i was full after the sandwich. The lady said they only have customers when the train comes in but to be honest with a policy like that i see why they don’t normally have many customers. There is no chance I would visit here again and i will warn my friends not to...

At The Tea Garden, the crab sandwich is a highlight. It features generous portions of fresh crab meat. The fish is battered and fried to perfection, resulting in a crispy exterior that encases tender, flaky fish. The chips are thick-cut and golden, providing a hearty accompaniment to the dish. Served with a side of tartar sauce and a wedge of lemon, this classic dish is comforting and satisfying. The ambiance of The Tea Garden Restaurant is cozy and inviting, with a garden-themed decor that enhances the dining experience. Whether sitting indoors or in an outdoor garden area, guests typically feel relaxed and comfortable. Overall, The Tea Garden Restaurant is a great choice for enjoying a crab sandwich and fish and chips, with a focus on fresh ingredients, quality preparation, and a pleasant dining atmosphere.

I had a great time here sat in the lovely garden. The sun was shining. The pub was extremely busy, but I got a table fairly quickly. You had to go inside to order your food which was a bit tricky as I was on my own. When I went inside the queue to order was massive. So, I went back outside and managed to order from scanning the qr code. Not something I like to do. But needs must. When the food came it looked delicious and it didn't disappoint. I had fish and chips. Why not as I was by the sea. A crispy coating of crunchy batter and delicious white fish. All washed down with a lovely glass of white wine. The staff were lovely and friendly. I will definitely eat here again if I'm back this way.
