You were very busy tonight. I had booked a table in advance. Despite this, I waited an hour between ordering and receiving my starter, plus an additional 20 minutes from there before receiving my main. There is nothing wrong with the food - it's amazing. And there's nothing wrong with the service - very kind and attentive. However, there is something wrong with the management. There is no reason why I waited an hour and a half to receive my meal, when others entered the restaurant after me and were served their mains before me. In fact, the able next to me had four people who were seated after I had been waiting for about 45 minutes. A wide array of dishes were served to them - approximately 7 dishes - before I had received mine. When I notified you about my dissatisfaction with the situation, and asked for my check, the right thing to do would have been to not charge me. I paid for my meal because I'm a good person. And the food was delicious. But you have some serious improving to do. I recommend having take-away orders deprioritized so that people who sit-in can be served in a reasonable amount of time. I also recommend that if there is a large order - say more than 4 dishes/sides - then people need to pre-book their take-away. You should also be specific and direct with the sit-in customers. If a dish takes an hour to make, then you need to say "that dish will take an hour, are you happy to wait?". This burden falls on the service staff, but comes from training by the chefs. Some people are very happy to wait an hour for their preferred dish. Other people would much rather order something else, especially if they have later plans or somewhere they need to be. That level of transparency will be an asset, not a hindrance. You will need to fix these things to stay in business. You...
Read morespent the day in Ayr and wanted somewhere for a family meal. (I rang and booked a table, staff were lovely and friendly on the phone.) There's sanitiser at the entrance, clear screen dividers between the tables and staff all wear masks. We saw the staff cleaning down tables etc immediately after customers left. The food was delicious..my photos don't do it justice as it was so tasty, everyone was eating before I could take a picture ! We ordered wonton soup, dim sum and tempura vegetables. The tempura is excellent..Nice and thin and crispy...vegetables are perfectly cooked too. The mains were chicken with ginger and spring onion ...which came out sizzling which was very impressive and smelled incredible! Curried chicken ..which came in a sizzling hotpot and was very nice and tender, not too spicy at all. (They have spicier options) vegetables tempura with salt and chilli and salted chilli chips ...all were devoured very quickly, and I'm told, very tasty ! Dessert was hot chocolate fudge cake with ice cream..the ice cream is delicious and the cake even more so ! We'd espresso to finish...it is really really good ..considerably better than espresso in most cafes ! Service is amazing, staff are friendly, polite and considerate . We can't wait...
Read moreI visit the " Lychees " restaurant as often as possible on my short visits to Ayr. The service in this restaurant, in my opinion, is very good. I would normaly opt for my favourite starter of ch/sweetcorn soup, but on this occasion I decided to push the boat out and go for the " pan fried scallops with Haggis fritters and chilli garlic sauce " , It was an inspired choice, the pan fried scallops were amazing, and the Haggis was so light and tasty it would have your taste buds dancing with delight. My other half tonight, chose the " lightly smoked fillet of fish with chinese stir fr for the mains, and there were no complaints there. I went for the traditional breast of ch/curry, and was not disappointed. All in all , with a large beer, a large glass of wine, a coffee and a Bailly's latte for less than £50.00 very good value for money, can't wait for...
