MacGillivrays Seafood — Restaurant in Scotland

Was sceptical to start with and my fears were soon to be tasted! Whist waiting on our 'fresh cooked' meal I noticed the sea food up for grabs was about as fresh as my dogs breath! The scallops were turning yellow and their usually white flesh was cracked and dry looking. The other items didn't seem much better. When we got our £20 fish and chips, what a ridiculous price anyway! The chips were clearly something from the frozen isle of a supermarket and the fish looked like a burnt insole, quite clearly previously cooked and now reheat! For the price of this terrible meal for two, only just around the corner is a lovely first floor restaurant in which they serve a fresh and varied well thought out menu at a reasonably price. We should have gone there. In fact anywhere would have been better than the tripe we were handed! Any way the prize for the most embarrassing waste of time and taste buds goes to MacGillivrays Seafood hut of lies! Tuck in at...

The place was noticeably dirty, with greasy tables and trays that were not clean. The overall hygiene made me uncomfortable, especially for a place serving food.

Unfortunately, the fish and chips were no better. The batter was soggy, the fish tasted off, and the chips were undercooked and limp — definitely not fresh. Coleslaw was off and it tasted like it was out of the fridge for a while. I expected a classic, comforting meal, but it was honestly hard to finish. And all that for £15.00 for a fish & chips portion!! Absolutely ridiculous.

To top it off, the staff were borderline rude. Not outright aggressive, but they made it clear they didn’t want to be there.

I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place unless they make serious improvements to cleanliness, food quality, and customer service.

I ordered fish and chips and then placed it on one of their tables and when I went up to grab some cutlery, some seagulls came out from nowhere and started to steal my food (I haven’t had a single bite yet). I told their staff members what had happened then they said they would ask their manager for me, then the staff came up to me and said that since I placed it on the table and I left it there (even though I haven’t even left their premises, so how is it my fault?) and the staff told me it’s not their problem and they wouldn’t be kindhearted enough to make another one or acted even a bit sympathetic towards the situation and acted like it was no longer their problem. The staff were extremely rude and were laughing about the situation behind my back. There are other better food places with better service than this one, I would not recommend...
