Great staff (special mentions for the girl) and food is ok, even if my wife and I expected much more quantity and quality for the price we paid. No pizzas on the menu, our pastas were overcooked, and they have only three desserts available. My wife had a creme brulee, which ironically wasn't enough brulee: half of it wasn't cooked at all. However, the main reason behind awarding only one star to Mamma Mia is the manager - he is absolutely terrible. He is short tempered and is focused only on making profit - he doesn't seem to believe that customers are there to have a good time as his main objective. My wife and I went there on a busy Saturday evening, and we could hear him shouting to waiters and cooks for no clear reason (I repeat, waiters were really good and kind to everybody), and he sent away people who did not make a reservation in a really rude manner, without realizing he had customers having their meal right next to him. We would have liked to have a word with him explaining the concept of customer service, but his bossy behavior didn't let us think he would have been keen on accepting criticism, thus we preferred not to say anything to avoid an even worse dinner. We would have left a tip to the waiters, but we didn't feel like they would have actually got it because of their manager. All of this ruined our experience at Mamma Mia. My wife and I believe this place would deserve a potential 4 star review if it wasn't for...

We'd been to this restaurant a few years ago, delicate flavours and interesting meal choices (not just pasta, but various fish dishes). Perhaps down to the current deal, the menu was a bit limited, none of the meat and prawn dishes as per the other reviews and on the website were available (just a pork and a burger dish was on offer). I ordered the only fish dish, sea bass, which came with roast potatoes as described, but with the fish also being fried/baked and a bit dry on the outside, and in the absence of other juices (I'd hoped for it to be baked in foil, perhaps) and no veg other than a few cherry tomatoes, I have to say I was disappointed with what felt not like a balanced, but rather dry and potato-heavy meal. The children had Tagliatelle Bolognese which was perfectly fine, and a good portion, but did not taste rich and deep as described and as I was used to from Bolognese sauces that contain red wine. Service was very good, and at the 50% off offer I have no complaints, but sadly would not go back for the same dishes in their current form...

The food was outstanding - the service significantly less so.

Two of our party arrived early, and were seated with drinks, when our friends arrived they placed a drinks order with the waitress but it never arrived. We then asked the waiter, who disappeared before the host had to come to the table and clarify the order.

The starters were delicious, but when the waitress came to clear the plates away, she cleared two and then started serving another table before she had finished, and only came back when she spotted us as she went to put cutlery on a table.

The staff were not very attentive, and while the main courses were delicious we were disappointed to be told that the restaurant wanted the table back by 8pm, something which had not been communicated to us when we sat down.

We were then further disappointed to find a service charge of 12.5% had been added to the bill.

The food was magnificent, but the atmosphere and the inattentive staffing let this down somewhat, hopefully we just caught them on...

Nestled in the charming heart of Stirling, Mamma Mia delivered one of the most unforgettable dining experiences of my travels in Scotland. As a traveler who seeks out local gems over tourist traps, this cozy Italian spot instantly won me over. I ordered the sea bass, and let me just say—wow. Perfectly cooked, delicately seasoned, and plated with finesse, it was hands-down the best sea bass I’ve ever had. Every bite was buttery, fresh, and full of flavor. It’s the kind of dish that lingers in your memory long after the meal is over. The service was warm, attentive, and authentic—like being welcomed into a family kitchen. The ambiance was just right: lively yet intimate, with just the right touch of rustic Italian charm. If you find yourself in Stirling, do not miss Mamma Mia. Whether you’re a seasoned foodie or a weary traveler looking for comfort in a plate of pasta (or sea bass!), this place delivers with heart and soul. 10/10 – a must-visit.

Food has been delicious: Chicken cacciatore, Carbonara, even Bruschetta. Ambiente was also pleasant… Only… Okay, we reserved late three Hours upfront - glad, that we could get a table for 18:30. Arrived on time, expecting a nice relaxing time, enjoying italian cuisine. Italian cuisine went well - enjoying and relaxing didn‘t quite succeed. Service was that quick, that we were out 30 minutes later, having had the feeling, that we -as Tourists, which we indeed are- are good candidates to be brought quick through dinner to resell the table again. This impression may be very subjective and erroneous - but all the other tables around hab been seated with other guests when we came and still were there, when we left. But maybe they complain because they were forced to stay longer than half an hour… Shouldm‘t do so - at least had they enjoyed the relaxing time we would also have liked to spend..

Despite some mixed reviews , we thought why not ? Tbh can't understand why there negative comments about staff as they were all really nice and looked after us very well. We shared a starter of King prawns on a nice sauce with toasted bread..yum. Pizzas were absolutely delicious ( we've been to Italy many times so know a good one when we see & taste it ) proper home made base , thin with raised edges , the cheese and tomato used was of the finest quality & all topped off with a generous portion of pepperoni. As the Pizzas were a good size we shared a desert and chase the lemon and mint cheesecake and despite it sounding a bit of a strange combination again it was lovely. The decor had the Italian vibe and atmosphere was relaxed with a nice buzz. No hesitation in recommending , enjoy.
