tl;dr: avoid this establishment. I am sure I am going against many others, based on the reviews I have read for this place. Nonetheless, this has to be one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've ever had. I was travelling alone and spending a weekend in Glasgow. Consistently, one of the greatest highlights whenever I get to come to the UK is the Indian food. It is the only country on earth that I have found whose Indian food is comparable to what can be found in India. Additionally, it has been guaranteed to be satisfying, until now. I had been walking for a while through the city enjoying sites and was examining a menu in the window of a different establishment. While reading, someone came up to me and asked if I was looking for really good Indian food. Indeed I was and they directed me to this place, which was only a block away. I was excited at the thought of a great meal at the end of a long day. I arrived and the manager, who was extremely polite, told me there was a 10 minute wait, the place was rather busy and getting busier. I was more than happy to do so. When seated, I ordered the saag paneer (extra spicy), a mushroom dish (extra spicy), and a glass of water (the first two can be seen in the picture). My server confirmed my spice tolerance and left with my order, this was the last I saw of her. The food arrived in a timely manner, brought out by a porter from the kitchen who seemed surprised that I did not have a plate yet. Thankfully, the plate was quickly fetched. They say the first bite is with the eye, and it was a good bite indeed. Unfortunately, it was the only good bite I had. The food was medium spicy at best and very lacking in any other flavour. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that mushrooms with barely any taste of umami are unacceptable. The saag paneer was something a street vendor I knew in Delhi would be ashamed to serve. Nobody came of their own volition to ask me how my food was. About 10 minutes after I took two bites and gave up, I was able to flag down the manager. I explained the situation as I have just done in this review. To his credit, he offered to try to fix the situation and said that this was most certainly not the experience I should have had. Unfortunately, between the abysmal attention by my server and the lackluster performance by the chef, I had no confidence in this establishment's ability to salvage the situation. I declined to take him up on his offer and left. As a solo traveler, I have experienced prejudice by restaurants serving a table for one. I do not know if this was the case in this instance. However, the other patrons around me seem to be getting much more frequent visits from their servers, none of whom were dining alone. I would suggest anyone considering giving this restaurant their patronage to only do so if your alternative is starvation. Just be careful, you may succumb to thirst. The water never arrived.

Going here for lunch with the family was a last minute decision. We googled Indian Restaurants and Mother India's Cafe popped up and we decided to try it out. We got there around 1 pm. The place was fairly busy but we managed to get a table in a couple of minutes. Staff showed us to the table with proper courtesy. Menu isn't extensive and seems to be aimed at the target audience of local (UK) and international tourists. However we were able to find something interesting for us. They also have an amazing kids menu which we used for the boys. Food: Arrived exactly at 10 min mark (my son was marking time). Ot was well presented and was of good quality. We requested mild food and it was exactly that - mild but tasty. Portion sizes aren't large and some might find them smaller, compared to other Indian restaurants. Service: Quick service. Although the waiter seemed to be in a grumpy mood. When we were almost finished with the meal, he abruptly questioned: "finished?", in a not very friendly tone. Perhaps he was having a bad day - not a biggie. Other staff members were pleasant and friendly. Overall, a descent restaurant at a great location. Good for families, groups and couples.

The ambience, the decor and the food also the price were absolutely brilliant. We ordered a pint + half pint of kingfisher indian beer to drink and continued to peruse the food menu. I realised not long after sitting down that the lunchtime rush was thinning out. The decor was modern and clean (?recently refurbished)and there was plenty of staff on duty. We ordered 4 "Indian tapas" to share with sides of basmati rice/garlic naan between 2. I was aware that tapas usually means that food comes when it's ready and not altogether so it was a shame that there was a wee wait between the fresh, well filled samosas and everything else. I can say that the service was very good and handled well although I would have liked to have been offered tap water and not have to ask. One star less as I'm afraid that the toilets let them down. The actual toilet from floor up to the seat looked a bit grimy. Shame as paper, soap and towel were plentiful. I have lived in Glasgow for a long time and have always wanted to try this restaurant and will certainly visit again.

I need to say I've been on this restaurant several times the last few months but after tonight I won't come back at all, and I swear, I'm not just saying that... We arrived at 7pm and then waited 15 minutes for the table. They gave us a table for 4 even if we were only 2 (Keep in mind this detail).

We ordered basically 3 courses: 1- Appetizers (4 popadoms, spiced onions, mango chutney) 2- Starters (chicken pakora, aubergine pakora) 3- Mains (lamb madras, chicken chasni, naan bread, peshwari naan bread)

In every restaurant I've been so far in my full life, it would take approximately no less than 1 hour to get all of them, but in this place here, believe it or not, we got the full dinner in less than 30 MINUTES and I want to tell you why.

You will think that's because the chefs are like superstars, because the food is basically ready to eat, because the floor staff are great but No... What they did tonight was bringing the popadoms first, and after 5 minutes they brought my chicken pakora but bringing my girlfriend starter 5 minutes later so making me have the starter on my own.

But what it's for me seed of madness is that my girlfiend has MINT and CINNAMON allergy and she mentioned it a few times to our server (a lovely girl, nothing to complain about and the shame that happened tonight wasn't her fault) who also spoke to the kitchen to make sure it was all fine but... The starter she had came with a sauce on side plenty of MINT... Yes, exactly, that couldn't be more ridiculous, but please remember it wasn't that wee girl fault, it was a mistake made by the kitchen and the food runner.

While my girlfriend was just about to eat her starter, the mains arrived... No idea why, no idea how that could have happened considering that we ALWAYS had in this place starters first and then mains. The minute my girlfriend finished her starter obviously the main was completely cold.

But the worst was yet to come... In fact what really annoyed, frustrated and made me also hate the minute I suggested to go to this restaurant was that after no even 25 minutes since we were there the staff kept coming all the time, constantly, no-stop, asking if we had finished and looking at my girlfriend's dish (she was still eating) and then looking at the door were there were people waiting for the table. There were so many other people that seated almost at the same time we did BUT… For some reason their only interest was our table, and I suppose that was because it was meant to be for 4 px. The way they did, with no shame at all, with 5 of them coming in 5 minutes just made us feel extremely uncomfortable. When the girl who was serving us came and asked how everything was I said her almost the same things I'm writing here but I made clear the point that it wasn't her fault... However, I said her something that I would have been more than happy to tell the Manager of this place which was "I would have loved to be told you had NO TABLE at all rather than giving us a table and then attempting to kick us away after 30 MINUTES...

Now, if I were the owner of this place, reading a review like this I would probably think "Whatsoever, we are plenty of customers, who cares about only two of them.." But.. If I were a very good one, then I would also start to think that maybe getting too greedy has always been the beginning of the end for so many restaurants that in fact no longer exist and so maybe it would be the case to discuss with the staff and especially with the ones in charge about their atrocious way to work while the Boss is not there (The man with glasses on and the Nike earring who is absolutely lovely and professional). After tonight what I can just say is a huge GOODBYE and Damned myself the minute I suggested to go to this place for dinner but obviously it won't happen again. You go to scam the people who "attracted" by the cheap prices are just leaving lovely reviews, but where I'm from - Italy - a place like this wouldn't last more than a month with the miserable service you...

Very poor service. One person takes the order and a couple times thereafter different staff come back to ask if someone ‘s taken the order. When the food is delivered it isn’t the complete order and the staff in a confused state ask whether that was the whole order or not. We had to inquire several times for a glass of water. My son was struggling with the spicey chicken curry and I had to walk up to the waitress to remind her we had asked for water. The food was below par. The ‘machi masala’ reminded me of take away fish mixed with canned tomatoes and some spice. The aubergine and potatoes curry was not completely cooked. Finally we hoped to have a more pleasant experience with the dessert. Ice creams were the only options. We chose mango, mint choco chip & coconut. After a while the waitress returned mentioning that there was no mango flavor so my son said he was ok with belgian chocolate. To our utter disgust the waitress came back again mentioning they couldn’t serve ice creams as they had melted !!!! Someone had left the fridge door open..... I am shocked this place gets the amount of positive reviews. It’s nothing short of an embarrassment of Indian food and the...
