Oscar's Saltcoats — Restaurant in Scotland

Place looked nice from the outside so wr jumped in for a quick bite to eat. Oh boy was that a mistake! Got seated and they took our drinks order as normal, then around 2 mins after the food order. We had ordered 1 small steak and a kids burger for my son. We then waited 45 mins until the food came out with no-one giving us an update. Eventually the food came, burger looked OK but the steak was horrific, especially for the price! It was served on a salad bowl which is just weird but what got me was the fact that I ordered it rare, was wall to wall grey inside with absolutely no char on the outside at all either. The sides were all undercooked too, the chips were the same as you find in any frozen section of a supermarket. These, the onion rings and the tomato were threatened with heat before it got sent out with the onions being raw in the middle of the onion rings and the batter looking whiter than casper if he joined the kkk. The tomato was the same, not even a single grill mark, it looked like it was thrown in the microwave the way it was warmish in the middle and had no colour on the outside. All in all I wouldn't be back, if its this poor on a Thursday night I shudder to think how bad it is when there's more than 17 (I had time to count) customers in...

looking for somewhere to have coffee on trip from Ayr to Helensburgh ended up having early lunch as food lookdd good and reviews said good food servsd here . we both had the Roast of the Day which was a Chicken breast fillet wrapped in smoked bacon along with potatoes 3 ways roasted , mashed and boiled new potatoes along with fresh veg of carrots broccoli, sugar snap peas and cauliflower a small yorkshire pud and tasty rich gravy and it was all well cooked along with pot of tea for 2 it came to £22 and worth evey penny . very good selection of dishes on menu at reasonable prices could have something different every...
