Just went in today, much improved compared to when first opened. Interior still stunning, transfers to another place and era. I really like the new electronic way of ordering-as there is detailed description of each food/drink in the website. The food was VERY good at a very reasonable price-much much better than when first opened a year ago. But what sets this place apart from any other cafe with very good food is the coffee. It is from another planet. I tried the turkish, the version the owners invented. It had pistachio and chocolate blended in the roast! WHAT KIND OF GENIUS THOUGHT OF THIS. I just couldn't believe how amazing it was and had to try another one immediately. I was never excited about a drink before in my life. I love coffee and have been chasing good coffee roast spots in all trips, Napoli, Rome, Paris, North London, Athens. But I have never seen this before. Sure, spices are mixed in coffee in eastern countries. But this is one is new in a very surprising way. The menus had other Turkish coffee mixes and will try next time- the owner told me that to not throw away all the coffee stored during the long lockdown they made experiments and they kept the top choices they came up with. Very lucky this place happens to be in the same city I live.

Very comfortable place and the interiour is completely in the ottoman design. Me as a turkish I loved the place and I can definitely recommend you it. I came from Edinburgh to visit a friend and we don't have a coffee house like this in Edinburgh. Its something different and I really felt like I am in Turkey. Respect to the owner. I will give 5 stars. I just have 2 points where I need to criticise. You can just order over the app so it takes a bit more and you need to leave your email adress which you need to confirm also. If we had both options to order by app or card I would do it over the menu card. But this was not possible. It took just a bit more time. Second would be the music. It was ottoman music with Orientals and also turkish beats. I loved it because I am turkish. For next time I would may be recommend not to leave the same music several hours in a row. We were 2 hrs there and the style of the music never changed. I had a coffee with milk. Was tasty and also turkish mocca. Was like in turkey. Thanks sir I heard you are from Pakistan.i travelled through 25 countries and next time I want see your country too with places like lahore and karachi Regards Ismail

We went for our first time on Sunday. We had to sit in the waiting area for ten minutes until we could get a table. When we were shown through to the main area, we were seated at table 12 which would seat five and as we were only a couple we had plenty room. The main hall had a great cosmopolitan vibe about it. We scanned the QR code, placed our order and paid through the phone. It was all quite straight forward, but we probably should have asked someone how much food we would need as we ordered slightly too much. We both had Chicken Shwarma Salads, which were outstanding! I followed this up with Lamb Ribs and rice, which I just managed to polish off. My wife had two Skewers of Lamb Mince which she made a valiant effort at, and I was too full to help her! All of the food was beautifully presented and so full of flavour. When our server came to clear our table I had my phone out to order coffee, but the man told us to tell him what he wanted, so we ordered an Americano and a Cappucino. As we were leaving I went to the counter to pay for the coffee, and our server told us they were on the house. What a lovely touch! We will certainly be back.

10 stars They even went through to the back to get me my savoury muffins in 2 trips without complaint as they didn't hear that I wanted 1 of each flavour even if I felt bad as they had just put them away as it was just before closing on way out. They serve almost all of their baked goods unexpectedly heated up if you sit in which was such a nice surprise, so fresh & yummy, especially the hazelnut soft & crispy pain au chocolat with a generous spread nutty topping. We also tried the custard & chocolate muffin, dulce de leche cruffin & gingerbread swirl which were all delicious too - probably preferred their pain au chocolat best, then cruffin & muffin, & swirl last for not being the softest of them all but still so yum. If you can, sit in & eat but even my savoury muffins were nice cold to take away - my favourite out of the 2 was the chilli cheese corn muffin over the sweet cheese & onion for its spicy kick while cold but preferred the other way round after microwaving at home strangely, so both were good. They even made me a golden matcha even if it wasn't on the menu anymore but they could make it for £4.90 just 50p more than their matcha, which doesn't have coffee in but the golden part is the sweet turmeric, which was great to dip some of the pastries in like the swirl or cruffin, as my friend did with her pistachio latte. Was busy but managed to get a comfy 2 armchairs in the cosy 1st table spot in the main area. They also let you play chess with their wooden chessboards too. Decor is lovely, lighting at the coffee making bit is comforting & all bakes displayed & savoury food coming out looked mouthwatering. More than 1 staff were friendly. You can pay at the till at the start or after. They were attentive as they showed me the bin, got me tapwater & napkins & told me wifi 1 after the other. Only took 5mins for a table to free up at quarter to 2pm on a Sat. They didn't rush your order or rush you out once you got a seat either - got to catch up with a friend for 5 hours in peace. Rarely come back to a place again as so many other places to try, but would totally revisit as I need to try their pistachio latte & salep & lunch/dinner food. Thanks for the welcome &...

Because this is called Ottoman Coffeehouse, I stupidly thought it would be Turkish. The only Turkish thing on the menu is Turkish coffee, and they were out of that. They don't even have Turkish tea. Since I have visited Turkey often, and I came here in the mood for that experience, I was disappointed.

The food is South Asian, which is fine, but if I wanted that I'd go to an Indian restaurant - there are plenty in this neighbourhood.

Also, the QR code menu is awful. If I wanted to order food on my phone, I'd have stayed at home and ordered from Uber Eats. We had two phones and the menu didn't open properly on either of them.

The decor looks nice, in a generically Orientalist way.

  • EDIT*

This edit is a response to the business owner's reply.

I left a negative review because I absolutely hated the experience. That's how reviews work. I don't often leave negative reviews, but I felt really strongly about this one.

I don't live in Glasgow, and I have followed this venue on Instagram since it opened, because I thought it looked amazing. I have been looking forward to visiting for years, and I was deeply disappointed.

I go to a lot of specialist coffee shops. When I do, I want staff to be able to explain to me what I am drinking - what the different beans are, the recommended preparation and so on. To have to order your food and drink online when there is a waiter a couple of metres away is ridiculous, alienating and...

What an absolute hidden treasure box. Couldn't come on fast enough to write this review. Regardless of being here many a time this place just keeps on giving. When walking into this place you are literally transformed into another world, from the antique decor, the relaxing music, the beautiful array of people and a menu that can't be beaten. Not only is the food displayed with much taste, attention and love but the staff actually care and are so part of the experience. Now not did I ever think that I would ever rave about a coffee like i'm an expert but I have never tasted one like this, wowwww ( how am I ever going to drink a normal coffee again ) the fact the staff are so educated, cultured and travelled shows, they have put there all into this coffeehouse and you can tell but to add a bonus there collection of cakes and pastries are next level, not your usual but ones that seem like they've been bought in internationally that taste so fresh and wholesome. ( pistachio crème cake is one to try ) Not only do I love this place, I feel after a long time of people being so divided with opinions, races and colours that this place brings everyone together for a much relaxed experience. I love this restaurant and I love the story behind it, it deserves rewards for many reasons and I wish all the wonderful hardworking staff front house and back the best of luck. Prayers towards a beautiful...
