I tried out Five March during a work trip with two colleagues and it was excellent. The restaurant was recommended by a friend who's from Glasgow and I was really keen to try it. Everything about our experience was fantastic. Here are some highlights:
The menu is extensive, exciting and reasonably priced considering the high quality ingredients, creativity and beautiful presentation Their team is excellent. Knowledgeable, confident, attentive; they are keen to advise and ensure that you have the best experience. It's immediately obvious that the restaurant is owned and operated by people who care and who have an eye for the details, including food quality and the art of a great ambience The chicken katsu burger with pickled ginger was a surprising highlight along with the incredible Char Sui pork collar I went for a Bloody Mary and as you can see from the image, it was both visually stunning and delicious. I couldn't resist opting for 10/10 spicy on their scale and it didn't disappoint All aspects of the restaurant were clean and presentable. The cutlery and crockery are well thought out and contribute to the dining experience
I thoroughly recommend a visit to Five March.

Read moreFirst of all, I will openly admit our party of 7 were 12 minutes late for our 6.30pm booking. However, that being said I have never, in ANY restaurant, ANYWHERE, experienced a “countdown” when dishes are being served to the table. The dining experience at Five March is contemporary sharing, so dishes come as when ready. (On their timescale, not ours) Nothing new here, granted, but also very enjoyable and sociable in the right environment…..BUT not when the serving staff put down each dish and tell you the time left you have to eat them! The whole sociable, dining, sharing and enjoyment of some exceptional food is very spoiled and is incredibly rushed with staff laying down dishes saying “30mins”, “20 mins”, “15 mins”…..REALLY!?! Many similar style restaurants in Glasgow are elevating the small plate dining experience to a much better level overall. We certainly won’t be returning to Five March which is sad, as the food is sensational but being force fed into an eating time slot is not. (Incase of any doubt. All dishes were ordered in one order. We were not offered any coffee, dessert or after dinner drinks as our time was up. Bill was concluded and we were...

Overall: We had high hopes for our pre-booked meal at Five March but left with mixed feelings, landing around a 3.5-star experience.
Atmosphere & Service: The restaurant has a lovely ambiance, and the staff were pleasant and kind.
Cocktails: Concepts were unique, but the drinks didn't always reflect their listed ingredients (e.g., a lychee, miso, and caramel cocktail tasted primarily of citrus).
Food: The main area for improvement. While the ideas were creative, the execution often lacked finesse: Salmon "pastrami" was overly salty and needed more accompanying slaw. Carrot hummus was tasty, but served with unpalatably bitter endives. Aubergine was unremarkable. "Roasted" cauliflower wasn't truly roasted. Dessert: The cremeaux was a pleasant enough pudding with texture but lacked complexity. Plating was a little funny - just a mess of chocolate on the plate.
Five March offers interesting concepts and a nice setting, but the food and cocktails needed more refinement in execution to fully deliver on their promise...
