Went for brunch when first opened - excellent! Took my partner the following week - bad!! Waited 3/4 months to go back. Went today - awful!!! I had Eggs Florentine. Thought they'd forgotten the hollandaise; they hadn't - but you couldn't see it because it was so thin it had disappeared into the bread (sourdough bread as opposed to the rosemary focaccia as stated on the menu). Not the thick, creamy sauce you'd expect. My partner had the black pudding stack. Nicely presented! Until you ate it. Black pudding so overcooked it was charcoaled around the edge. Eggs and two slices of black pudding was eaten. Mentioned why one slice was left to the waitress who spoke to the manager and our stack was now £7 as opposed to £9.50. I would also like to point out that there were only 2 other people in at the time and the kitchen by no means was under any pressure due to volume of customers. Not good enough Peckhams - three strikes and you're out.. ...
Read moreDespite the place being near enough empty when we arrived (there was one other table with people seated at it), it took quite a while for a member of staff to come and seat us, despite the fact that the kitchen was directly opposite the main door and the chef could quite clearly see us. There were waiting staff in the kitchen, so we weren't sure why the chef didn't tell them that we were waiting to be seated. We were then told that multiple items on the menu weren't available (a common theme going off other reviews), and the coffee we were served was appalling. We both got macaroni cheese, but both dishes were extremely watery, and despite decorative signs on the walls talking about "passionate love affairs with fresh verbs" and comparing cheese to wine, the macaroni cheese was obviously made with cheap cheddar and hadn't been so much as tickled with dried herbs, let alone fresh ones. The place was near enough dead, and it's not...
Read moreFeels like a missed opportunity this in terms of a dine in experience. The entrance and bar look absolutely brilliant in their dark theme but the fact the dining area is a pale yellow gave off the vibe of a library cafe. The layout and overly loud music just made it an awkward space for meals that just feels like a last minute rush to sort.
The food was pretty uninspiring to be honest, and for the premium price you’re paying it again feels like a missed opportunity and nowhere near the quality you can get in Helensburgh for a similar price bracket.
The staff who served us were brilliant when we were there and absolutely cannot be blamed in any way which is a shame they have to front what could easily be a much better experience.
Overall I’d recommend going in for drinks in the bar, but wouldn’t be back for food unless the menu, quality, and dining experience as a whole...
